Emmitt was done 4 years ago and Jerry Jones gave him his "bowing out gracefully" year. Sad to say, Emmitt didn't use it as such, but interpreted it as he could still go. The Cards signing made no sense in foresight and hindsight. Barry Sanders knew. Jim Brown knew. Robert Smith knew. Namath, Unitas and Emmitt didn't. I somehow get the feeling that this is so personal with Emmitt and he just wants to see his stats grow by inches, given his concept of keeping every TD ball from his career in a trophy room. He had his glory year and the last 2 seasons only detracted from that one. This year could be embarassing.
