Prime example of why ASU-UofA is not a real rivalry.
You are certainly entitled to root for whoever you want to root for. Just don't be upset when great rivalries, like Mich-Ohio St, Alabama-Auburn, Texas-Texas A&M, etc are discussed and the ASU-UofA rivalry never gets mentioned among the great rivalries in college sports.
Those rivalries are relevant, not because of "heat" but because of tradition and success
It means something if Texas loses, is used to mean something if Michigan lost, it means something if Ohio State loses, it means something if Bama loses, it sometimes means something if Auburn loses
As far as football the state of Arizona is irrelevant, aside from hosting big games as a neutral site
Basketball rivalries typically don't get as much notice, but the good ones again actually matter to both the teams .... Take Louisville and Kentucky - Louisville has been in 3 final fours in the past decade and picked up a national championship and Kentucky has been in 2 with a national championship
