Well, I had a great weekend in Oregon, though it obviously would've been better with a victory.
Oregon fans were pretty cool. We had plenty of "f-bombs" thrown our way, but they were far outnumbered by, "Good luck. Welcome to Eugene." Their indoor practice facility (Moshofsky Center?) is sweet, and a great place for pre-game festivities. It's basically a "Birds Nest" on steroids, complete with food, music, beer, etc.
As for the game, Dixon is amazing. I had a great vantage point and still had a hard time following the ball due to his fakes. I'm still not sure if it's possible, but we were probably more impressed by their punter. Every kick looked as if it was headed out of bounds, and yet they all dropped in play, and just freaking died on the spot. That guy changed the game big time.
The stadium is actually pretty small, and the reputation it has for noise is well deserved, though I think most visitors are impressed by the volume from such a small crowd, vs. overall decible level. Having been to the Cards playoff clincher (vs. SD) in '98, Coyotes playoff games, too many ASU games to count, etc, the overall noise didn't impress too much. Still, the atmosphere is what makes college football great.
The story of the game of course, was too many blown chances in the redzone. Hopefully it's corrected next week.
All in all, a great turnout by Devil fans, and a great time. Now, on to UCLA...
