#RedSox have dismissed Dave Dombrowski as their president of baseball operations, as first reported by ⁦‪@JeffPassan‬⁩. ⁦‪@MLBNetwork‬⁩
Not a year removed from a title lol. The pressure in big markets is just nuts.

Rumors swirling that Hazen is on short list to replace him. ARZ Assistant GM Jared Porter also a potential candidate, better lock them up now. Hopefully BOS targets bigger fish like Rizzo or Anthopoulos.

Losing Hazen would be catastrophic!

Yeah it would be bad. I really think Hazen is the right guy for this organization. He seems to have good sense about how to build a roster on a limited budget. He isn't afraid to make the tough but needed move.

Hazen is the head of baseball ops and is under contract; my understanding is The Diamondbacks can deny the Red Sox permission to talk to him, seeing as the job is roughly equivalent in authority to that of his current role.

The Cubs have promoted Jason McLeod from Senior VP/Amateur Scouting an&d Player Development to Senior VP/Player Personnel. McLeod will be involved in all aspects of the Major League operation with particular focus on the roster construction and day-to-day workings of the club.

McLeod's promotion would seemingly take him out of consideration for a job with the Red Sox, who are looking to replace Dave Dombrowski atop the baseball operations department. McLeod spent six years with Boston earlier in his career.

MLB has placed Domingo Germán on Administrative Leave under the Joint MLB-MLBPA Domestic Violence Policy. Per the policy, the initial period of Administrative Leave may last up to seven days, barring an extension. MLB’s Department of Investigations has commenced an investigation.

The #Padres have fired manager Andy Green. In his fourth season, he finishes SD run with 274-366 record. Two years left on his deal.
'Not surprised! On the other hand, I can't understand why Don Mattingly was renewed by the Marlins.

I think 'Donny Baseball' was a lot more talented as a player than as a Manager, whether with the
Dodgers or Marlins.

To put it another way, he has shown drawbacks as a Manager, whether with a contender or building a team.

Well, I don't know of anyone that meets your expectation , anyway. So, they might as well keep him. Keep us from signing him. :D

C'mon, Gimpy, think about it. Do you really want me, or anyone, to post every
day about the many Major League managers, "So-and-so is good at his job."?
That would make for a pretty dull site.

Bruce Bochy has been the best, bringing championships to the Giants.

Craig Counsel, my favorite D-back player of all time, has become an
excellent manager of the Brewers. Just to name a couple.

Unfortunately, our Manager has shown serious shortcomings. Because
he's our Manager, and I am a fan, I post it here on the Arizona Sports
Fans Diamondbacks site.

I like Torey as an honest, sincere person. And I like his sense of humor.
I wanted to be proud of him as a Manager.

But to hear him tell the Press in post-game interviews, over and over,
when they ask him about strategy, or results, "I honestly don't know
what to do about it.", does not build confidence.

I take that to mean the he would feel relief if he could be a Bench
Coach again somewhere else. He is in over his head.

There is no guarantee that a novice Major League manager is going
to be a success. Especially if he is brought on board by the GM from
his previous team. Cronyism does not guarantee success. Especially
if the job is not one previously held by the candidate.

The question is can GM Mike Hazen be objective about his Red Sox
former Bench Coach?

Craig Kimbrel’s 9 HR allowed is a career high. Hard to give up that many after signing halfway through the year, starting in the minors and spending time on the DL. Yet somehow, he’s done it. Nearly a HR every 2 innings. Disastrous timing, too.
