Dumb trade, he hasn't hit since the first half of 2013, and had 19 errors last year. I would have been fine with a healthy Owings/Ahmed/Drury.

I think we were just trying to get rid of Hill and once again had to attach a young prospect to get it done.

Losing faith in the FO. Should of never given them Diaz.

Well, most teams keep 19 year old middle-infielders with plus power. I think it's fair to say we're not most teams.

Apparently in the dbacks think 19 year old middle infielders with power are worth about 6.5 million in savings (what we save for dumping hill).

Rather keep Hill than make this trade. Hate having to anchor good players to get rid of bad contracts. Diaz and Anderson didn't need to be traded.

Sad to see Anderson go.. Wagner has a nice minor league track record.. Segura is terrible.. Be honest, have you ever heard of Diaz?

Hill's contract was the reason for this trade. They wanted to find anyone to take over his pay. I like the move of getting Hill traded, but wish Anderson could have been salvaged.

They've traded away a lot of good young talent in the past year to win now.

Hope it works.

They are on a 3 - 4 year window to make a run. They wanted a ML SS for Opening Day but Segura doesn't seem like that much of an upgrade over Ahmed or Owings. Win now and shed payroll in the process.

After another salary dump our 2016 must look crazy with Greinke and then a huge drop off for the rest of the team.

Goldy will be coming up on a huge contract. When does his current contract end?

Goldy is signed thru 2018 with a team option in 2019. He's making $6 Million this season. His contract is so heavily weighted toward the team's side it's ridiculous! And the best part - he doesn't give a crap! ;)

Ha! I'm sure his agent it in his ear everyday telling him he can be making 20+ a year. The Dbacks need to throw some xtra incentives his way to make sure he is completely happy (even though he is the Fitz of the Dbacks)

This season will be interesting for Goldy... He essentially collapsed in the 2nd half of last year and all indications are that he was healthy. Not suggesting he isn't worth a bigger deal - because he is! Maybe it's just pure hope... but man, I really would like to see him put up a full season of top-tier consistent play. He did that back in 2013, but other than that year, he's really not head a full season yet of high-end performance. I'm sure the team feels the same... I have no doubt that ownership, along with the front office all would love to ink Goldy to a long-term deal and have him ultimately never leave. Hope it happens!

The deal with Clippard is done. Two years at $12+ million total.

I like it. He will be great add to the bullpen. It's nice to see the Dbacks at least trying to make the right moves

So basically Clippard and Ziegler are going to battle for / share the set up and closer roles at this point.

One of my good friends from NY, who is a wild Mets fan, says Clip is a classic and very solid setup man - NOT a closer...

Let's see where they are a the deadline. They can always pick up a true closer if they need one.

Great to see the team lock up AJ for two more years at a reasonable $5 Million per! [emoji106]

Technically AJ was already locked up. ;)

I estimated we could get him at just under $4M and the arb was $3.9M vs $3.65. So if you assume a 1 year deal at midway, $3.775M, we paid him in advance $6.225M for 2017. I think that's pretty reasonable for a guaranteed contract of 1 year. I'm glad the team is being shrewed and not as spendthrift as some here wanted them to be.

BTW, there is something about Farting's post that freeze my browser from loading for a long time. Anyone else experience this?

Edit: shrewed, not screwed

That's strange. Mine is just fine
