Just curious, because Zig reminds me of Dan Quissenberry, who was a closer (right?)...how hard did Dan throw back in the day? Also, I like that you referenced coming in with clean bases, because back in the day that wasn't usually the case.

Yeah, I remember when he died...also remember him pitching when I was kid...just didn't remember how hard he threw.Good reference, certainly not very hard. Looked up his bio, died at 45 from brain cancer...sad stuff.
So...you argument is that he isn't an ideal closer because he isn't ideal in your theoretical "situational pitcher" scenario? Closers more often than not come in with clean bases, so not sure why the scenario above is relevant.
The guy converted 30 of 32 save opps, with a 1.85 ERA - I'd love to know any team that wouldn't want those numbers from a closer. Just because he doesn't throw 98 doesn't mean he isn't extremely effective as a closer.
He filled the role well when ARZ shifted him there but I think ARZ is looking for a true closer. They were exploring a Chapman trade last year and were believed to be interested in Andrew Miller.
we need bullpen help.. hope something comes through
Melancon is expected to be dealt.
Toward the end of last season, both Brito and O'Brien were mentioned in the group behind Peralta/Pollock/Tomas/Inciarte. Now it's down to a workable five.Anybody in the know think Brito will get Ender's roster spot?
Ender is a more proven commodity but Brito may have more potential.

dbacks have been talking to howie kendrick but their people seem hesitant to give up a 2nd draft choice to sign him for now
not happening apparently
""We're not going to give up the pick," Stewart said of the D-backs, who have the 37th selection (Competitive Balance Round A). "It's just tough after we've already given up our first pick. To give up our top two picks, that would be difficult for us to do.""

I agree. Would prefer dealing for Phillips if they want another bat.
DBacks trade Chase Anderson and Aaron Hill to Brewers for SS Jean Segura and P Tyler Wagner...
Dbacks also included Isan Diaz which is really surprising since I thought he was tabbed the shortstop of the future that made Swanson expendable.
What! Where are you seeing Diaz being included?
What! Where are you seeing Diaz being included?
Ken Rosenthal is reporting it.
Update: Brewers tweet also confirming Diaz is included.
