Nearly all the bad is down to game one. The yardage, the points, the TDs, pressures, sacks etc all far higher in game 1 than since.

It's ok to look at the stats and say "Actually, from week 2 onwards it's been pretty good". Two of our 3 wins have been defensive wins. 28 of the 156 points scores have been defensive or special teams.

In 7 games we have restricted opponents to 23 or less 5 times. 4 of them 20 or less.
Stats and analysis isn't everyone's forte.

If this situation even comes to pass, which is extremely unlikely, I think you let a new HC pick his DC unless it is a situation like KK where he doesn't have those relationships and the team makes a strategic hire. Let's not forget that most people (including yours truly) were not happy when Ray Horton was not retained as DC, because BA wanted his own guy -- Todd Bowles.

I could see them moving on from Kingsbury, bringing Byron Leftwich in as head coach, and he bringing Bowles with him as DC.

Yes, my middle name is Nostradamus.
Could happen because we have a Bidwill owning our team, but OMG, I would vomit if we hired Leftwich. But, I’d be fine with Bowles as DC.

Andy Dalton just threw for 361 yards and 4 TDs against this D less than a week ago. His previous season highs were 236 yards and 1 TD. He hadn't broken 200 yards passing in his last 2 games.

But hey, if you take Game 1 out & this last game out, our defense looks very good! Ignore those games & our defense looks like the 2002 Buccaneers!

It isn't. Our defense set records for points given up early in the first 3 games. They were record-setting bad to begin the opening 3 games. That in the latter ones they got a lot better after the half is kind of irrelevant, as they helped put us into the hole to begin with.

Yeah because they were massively down most of the game and Dalton had to wing it and the D played to not get burnt deep but gave up some big YAC plays.

...forgetting the big bomb he threw on the first drive and how the N.O. offense was walking up and down the field early on.

The buzz down here is that both Arians & Bowles could go, fair or not. Did you see Sunday’s game? I don‘t think it’s fair, but it’s out there. As to Joseph, people are seriously impressed with his D. They believe the Cards get more out of the personnel they have than the vast majority of the other teams. He’s talked about as a way to make the Cap work without having to take big $ defensive guys.

If he gets criticism for everything then he deserves some praise for the pick 6's, it is his scheme after all. If you want to point out execution was individual plays, well there's a lot of those that made VC look bad as well.

That ball was thrown perfectly though, sometimes the other team makes great plays.

49ers got torched by the Chiefs too. Hawks struggled vs us and Raiders aren't terrible like their record suggests. Completely stomped the Carolina offense and held Philly pretty well.

Considering how awful the offense has been, I can't quite complain with Vance. Some run ups early, but other than the Chiefs they were almost completely halted. Offense given plenty of opportunities to win all games except KC.

Saints look like they took advantage of prevent D, which always looks the same, racking up some points/yards later when game is out of reach. Even Kyler has benefitted from that in the past to pad his stats.

Can’t see anyone looking at Leftwich as a head coach for like ten years. Less experience than Kingsbury and was just a trainee three years ago.

Uh… Arians is already gone there.

Our Defense will only get better as the season progresses. I base that opinion on it being a young Defense and our Offense's slow starts, so the many three and outs have kept the Defense on the field for a long time. And falling behind in games means the opponents have an advantage in that they can run or pass. And that keeps the Defense guessing. Last week, thanks to our Defense we got an early lead and while Dalton was able to put up yards, he wasn't able to put up enough points. Forget the stats it was our Defense that won the game.

VJ and his defense are underappreciated IMO. The offense must lead the league in 3 and outs.

A few random thoughts....

I suspect that the "Cardinals forced Arians out" conspiracy theorists don't believe Bowles would come to Arizona.

In retrospect... Bowles had a lot of defensive talent in 2013-2015... peak Patrick Peterson, Tyrann Matthieu, Calais Campbell, John Abraham / Dwight Freeney, Tony Jefferson, Dan Williams & Frostee Rucker, both Karlos Dansby and Daryl Washington in 2013, peak Antonio Cromartie in 2014, and a bunch of solid role players. I wonder whether he'd be as good with the talent on the current team?

Would the Buccaneers really fire a black head coach after one down year? Could they get someone better for the upcoming rebuild?

If the Buccaneers are considering trying to "keep the band together" one more year, it will surely remind Arians (and Bowles) of why he left the Cardinals when he did. No way to win with the old, thin roster remaining, and no patience for a rebuild.

After last season he had interviews with the Jaguars, the Bears, and the Saints. Also, he is considered one of the biggest candidates by every analyst out there.

Not at all forgetting, but no team stops everything.

And most of his production came from 17pts onward when we were playing a prevent defence, to the point where we sometimes sent 3 in the pass rush and Dalton had plenty of time to find a receiver.

CONTEXT matters.

...forgetting about the opening drive bomb and how he walked the offense up and down the field on the first three drives. As you said, context matters.

That was just a perfect throw and catch. It happens. Cardinals are playing other professionals too.
