I like how UCLA could literally run it 10 times in a row and the safeties/CB's are still 10-15 yards off the LOS. Bray should never be allowed to coach in college, he's the most passive DC in the country and this defense will never be good if he's calling the plays. Erickson has some good talent on this team, but the play calling on both sides of the ball is dumbfounding. Is a swing pass every offensive series really necessary, is it impossible to stack the box with 8 defenders to stop the run? Coaching staff just doesn't get it...

Not a game ASU should be losing. At all. UCLA just isnt any good.
Not to pile on here, but what makes one think ASU that good? 8-4 or 9-3 against this schedule is nothing to write home about. The tenuous position you guys are in (much like we were last offseason) should ASU not get to the Rose Bowl is that there's no security and that inevitably gets you hammered on the recruiting trail and in retaining assistants in the offseason. And I don't see how at this point how Lisa Love could get the political capital over there to either fire or extend Erickson.

Well, truth is, we're not all that good. Injuries are a part of the game but we've lost way too much talent to compete at the level many of us had expected coming into this season. An Alabama or an Oklahoma type team could absorb this many key losses but not an ASU. Add in the fact that we are one of the dumbest teams in college and there isn't a team on our schedule that isn't capable of beating us.

I mean, come on, what the heck was Robinson thinking there? He catches a pass for what would have been a first down and just before he hits the ground he throws the ball forward in an attempt to get the ball out of bounds??? I think that one might be in contention for dumbest play ever (Leon Lett, move over).

I really don't understand what the ASU defense is trying to do. Most of the time it looked like 4 down lineman with 3 linebackers (or 2 and a safety) about 10 yards back and standing practically right next to eachother in the middle. UCLA ate this up.

And on that 3rd and 29 play, that UCLA converted. Our corner was way overmatched and out on an island all by himself with no help. There should have been a safety covering over the top. I just don't get it.

I don't even think Bray knows what to do. They play base cover 2 against an option running team, I can't imagine any competent DC to ever run that type of defense against an option team, it's basically inviting the team to run all over you. On the 3rd and 29, I would have to watch it again, but it looked like cover 0 with no safety over the top, and I don't remember an all out blitz, so I have no idea what they were trying to do. It shows the horrible coaching on that play, the CB was in good position, but then he turns his head around and looks away from the WR, so all he had to do was a little hitch and he was wide open. Had the CB looked 'to' the WR rather than away, he would've seen the hitch and been able to make a play on it, horrible play and bad coaching.

Erickson brought in some decent talent over the years, but the entire coaching staff needs an overhaul. Theres no imagination anywhere, and their 1 page playbooks are getting really old. Everything is telegraphed, and it's way too easy to know what's coming next. If Erickson stays for another year, he needs to get rid of Bray immediately, he has no idea how to attack opposing offenses with any aggression whatsoever, and he never ever makes any adjustments, it's pathetic.

Agree with all of this, just a typical ASU choke job and a brutal loss.
