First, Zendejas one other player and trainers ran Burfict down on his way to the locker room. When Zendejas tapped him on the sholder, he turned and threw a fake punch. It did not connect.

See second to last line of story: "The punch missed."

If you are going to quote a link, you are probably better off copying and pasting it. Making one up on your own doesn't help back your argument.

Re: Burfict

The game ended ugly, with Arizona’s players jumping up and down on the interlocking ASU at midfield, the Sun Devils confronting them and a scrum ensuing. The worst exchange came when Zendejas taunted freshman linebacker Vontaze Burfict, and Burfict, in response, threw a closed-fist punch at backup long-snapper Ricky Wolder.

The punch missed.

Typo. Easy enough to translate and correct...

Fair enough, though I still can't understand how one would not just copy and paste a link, but it's OK.

As for the link, it is to a column, not a game article. I do wonder why, if that were indeed the case, the game story would not have that.

I do think, however, that if nobody exactly knew what happened Bordow may have put that in there to help go along with his story, especially given the line that followed the one you guys are pointing to.

"The punch missed.

Just like the season."

Not saying Bordow made it up, but given there are different reports, one from a game article and another from a sports columnist, I'm inclined to take the game story.

Doesn't matter, though. In the end what Burfict did and what Parrom did should not happen, but to blast one guy and not the other does scream homerism.

That said, I wouldn't mind seeing Parrom miss a game, if only to send a message that behavior like that will not be tolerated.

AU is actually what your former O-Cord called it when he left. and I quote "I would like to thank Arizona University for the chance to work with Barney Rubble err I mean Mike Stoops." Go ahead Jon, edit my post for the safety of the whiney au fans.

Vontaze Burfict was doing his best LeGarrette Blount impersonation. Give him two more years and he will have it down. :wink2:

Also, I love this "the punch missed" portion of the past few posts... since when does missing with a punch negate it entirely?

And then I could just link Steve Kerr to you and we have come full circle, doomed to repeat ourselves.

Pot, kettle, black...

EDIT: Also, I am not entirely sure that if he did throw a water bottle that he would have hit his target. Just going with the track record. :)

I guarantee none of the people who threw water bottles will be suiting up for the team's next game.

Point is none of this should happen, but to complain when it happens on one side only to look the other way when it's on your side, well, that just shows what you are all about.

It's OK to be a biased fan, but don't get all pissy when you are called out for it.

No one is really mentioning what started the players fighting after the football game:

Arizona’s players jumping up and down on the interlocking ASU at midfield

Surefire way to get tempers flaring and several confrontations happened after that...

And we're sure Glasser did nothing to "get tempers flaring?" Didn't say or do anything during the game?

If I recall, Glasser is the one who stood over a Washington player last year (after a teammate knocked him down), so I don't think he is any kind of saint on the court.

But BIM, you can't tell me you are justifying Burfict's punch (whether it landed or not) because of what UofA players did beforehand, because I think we can both agree none of that should ever happen.

The UofA players were classless for jumping on the ASU - especially after a big win - act like you've done it before. This kind of immature act sucks even when it is your team doing it - I believe we've done the same after football wins down South.

Burfict's retaliation was a stupid move as well. Pushing and shoving and yelling are one thing. Throwing a punch, whether it connects or not, is plain stupid.

Hey tukee

If you want a history lesson on your precious University and its many classy acts, read this article. Ill admit its old, but history cannot be undone

http://wc.arizona.edu/papers/97/158/02_5.html

And by this you are saying its OK for the fine students at arizona university to, mock the death of Pat Tillman? Come into the ASU student section at a game, im sure it was to invite them out for beers later? I can go on and on but like stated before, whatever you say about ASU will come back on au. Love how even in your school paper you rats bread hate towards ASU.

And vice-versa, which is why it is just plain stupid to bash one school's bad seeds while defending the other's.

This thread = EPIC FAIL.

Can you structure a sentence properly and spell correctly so I actually know WTF you are talking about?? I can't tell if you are inviting me to your student section or if I asked them to join me for beers.

And I don't think we were baking bread for your school. The word you are looking for is "breed" or "bred" if past tense.

And I did not hear of such banter about Tillman. All I know is that his foundation selected UofA as their Scholar University Partner for next school year. Funny how even though he is an alumnus of ASU they haven't selected them yet.

Rivalry week brings out the worst in people and we say and do stupid things but ASU is the one college of the two that has a pathological problem of regretable actions and takes it to another level. It is well documented.

I don't believe that's right TJ. I know a few Tillman Scholars at ASU and there is a scholarship in his name that makes you a Tillman Foundation Scholar.

This is the worst thread I have read in a while.

For every Parrom there is a Kyle Dodd. For every Burfict, there are players jumping on a logo at midfield.

This stuff happens at every univeristy and in every rivalry. Ever watch UF FSU in the late 90s?

To point the finger at the other team and say, "look what they did! They are classless thugs!" is a compete joke. There have been a few instances where things have gone way too far, however this thread is hilarious.

Book Richardson recruits inner city thugs? Lute recruited classy kids? (Chris Rodgers, Stephen Jackson, ect...)

The truth always is in the middle of each side of the "fact".

Ill gladly take kids that play hard and contest everything in the open court over someone who quits when he misses his 4th straight fadeaway jumper with 25 seconds left on the clock.

What Parrom did was stupid, and he should be punished for it, but at least we have some guys on our team who show emotion and play with heart (Wise, Momo, Williams, Parrom).

Yes there are those kind of indivduals at every school... But it just so happends that Parrom is currently the person that has done this kind of crap lately...

But lets be real, you can say how ASU is dirty too, but Parrom, JUST TALKING about him and not the university, is a dirty classless THUG.. and I see why UA fans like him, but it is like being a fan of Stephan Jackson or Bruce Bowen, you ay be glad he is doing it for your team, but in no way can you respect him, or even root for him, IMO

I am glad to see that UA fans are for the most part acknowledging this fact though..;)

I went to college at ASU in the early 90s, covered the football team for most of the decade, and was quite often a little terrified of being around some of the guys alone. Same goes for the basketball team.

Jock culture in big college sports ... pretty much anywhere you go, always a handful of guys you wouldn't want to be caught alone with in a dark alley. Same goes for the fans. There's always a collection of idiots that make the rest look bad.

No one's going to win this discussion. Both programs are pretty typical when it comes to making a few mistakes on character. Neither fan base has been especially classy.
