All of you out there calling Andre Roberts a bust are cracking me up. Please be sure to sign in at this thread so that I can ask you for your opinion of him over the next couple years. The man is the real deal. There is zero chance he will be cut and for any of you to think otherwise does nothing more than reflect harshly upon your football acumen. JMHO

That's not really a humble opinion.

Feel free to throw me in the camp that think Roberts sucks. You can ridicule me if I am wrong.

Did you go to flagstaff and watch him TRY to catch punts?

U can put me' in. I think he's too small and shown to be scared of getting rocked.

Hope I'm wrong

I haven't heard anyone say anything positive about him other than a bunch of know-nothings on this board.

Ken Whisenhunt's staff and our FO, who built a SB team, did when they drafted him and kept him on our roster.

I like Roberts. He was the most impressive receiver on the field during the Senior Bowl week. The WR position is a tough transition from college and normally takes a couple of years. We have been spoiled with early successes of both Boldin and Fitzgerald. The Cards know what they have and will be patient with him.

No I didn't, but did you ever watch him play in college or in the Senior Bowl?

Nope. I don't really follow college FB so I did not see him. I did see him in camp and 4 pre-season NFL gams so that is upon which I am basing my opinion.

JaMarcus Russell looked awesome in college. The Cards just cut a former 2nd Rounder and are on the verge of cutting a former 1st rounder.

I will freely admit I am wrong if it turns out otherwise. Will you do the same?

Haters? He hasnt lived up to his draft position yet and has been out performed by two UDFAs. That doesnt make him bad, put is does make him expendible/not needed.

He either get IR'd or Cut IMO...

I fit in perfectly with that group. I have no idea if he'll make it in the NFL but I definitely saw one positive in the kid - he CAN get open. And while getting open means nothing if you can't catch the ball, how'd he get drafted in the first place if he can't catch? I think you keep him, his upside is too high to give up on him this soon.

Exactly, he was getting open hence he was getting the ball thrown his direction. In college the kid was all hands, had the highest catch rate on catchable balls in all of college football last year.. I don't know if it is jitters, or if he was so used to his old QB that he is still getting used to Andersons throws.. but his history says he will come around and catch the ball.

First, you watched him in camp and in a game and a half in the preseason. I am not sure what you could gage from seeing him hurt and in street clothes on the sidelines the last two games. Also, I am just wondering, do you think that training camp and a game and a half in the preseason is more telling than 4 seasons in college and a few all-star games against the best competition in the country?

Also, Jamarcus Russell did not look awesome in college. He had one great Bowl game. The guy was clearly dumber than a box of rocks and about as motivated as a heroin addict (or purple drank fiend, whichever you prefer :) ). Someone's draft position doesn't count if the team that took them is owned by Al Davis.

Finally, I made the thread didn't, wouldn't it be rather impossible to hide from it? Thanks for the insulting insinuations though

And who is this first rounder that we are on the verge of cutting??

INSULTS!

LOL. J/K.

My hat is in the ring. Can't blame people for what they see. So far, on what we all get to judge from on preseason games he has sucked, and badly. Not only that our inside guy, Urban, says he has not looked good at all.

Plus the Citadel is not exactly, all over college football broadcast.

Can't blame people for believing what they read, and then having it backed up by what you see on TV.

If he is as good as you say, he better start showing it.

??????????
:biglaugh:

He's played 1 and 1/2 games???? How the hell is he supposed to live up to his draft position in that time????

Why would he get IRed?? This doesn't even make any type of sense. Maybe they'll IR Leinart too.

Please, please can we make an ASFN wager here?

Yes, and I'm sorry, the NFL is the best competition in the country, not college.

Didn't mean to come across as insulting. Sorry if you read it that way.

Leinart.

Fair enough, I have no idea how that slipped my mind. You would think w/ all the crap surrounding him on the board right now that would be impossible. FWIW, the team has already said that Leinart would not be cut. Whisenhunt has acknowledged that there is a still a battle going on between Matt and Derek. The only way he wont be here will be if he says he does not want to.

Also, am I the only one who thinks about Brendan's brother Derek from StepBrothers every time someone calls Anderson by his first name?

He reminds me of Bryant Johnson. To many drops will never be a reliable receiver. Was completely outplayed by two UDFA.

Great hands are great hands regardless of whether he did it at the Citadel or at Alabama. His hands are the reason he even made it to the NFL. I like the fact that he creates separation, something that has been missing, even with our best receivers. Has he had a good camp? No. I think he had the case of small school jitters. I think the Cardinals will give him the benefit of the doubt & keep him. Whiz doesn't play games, so that's definitely not etched in stone. I say they should keep him.
