He is indeed more talented. But I believe Nurkic is a much better fit. When one of our stars needs to feed a guy down low, Nurkic will do the correct thing with it, immediately. The offense will flow. Unlike with Ayton.

If we get him for 50+ games and the playoffs, you could be right. But unless his weight loss has improved his quickness, he's not the defender we'll need most nights.

Anyone of those guys could've saved Ayton

I think it's captain obvious Book and KD both wanted him gone - and I think it's captain obvious Vogel has seen footage of Ayton's playoff mindset these past couple years
No I don't think so. If Book is like I am through with this guy we can't work together and Vogel is actually pro Ayton and KD is neutral - Then IMO that would result in Ayton getting traded. That is the most likely scenario in this case IMO.

Your starters have to be able to work together 3 out of 5 starters being fine with each other isn't enough.

I’m hoping going from bottom feeder to contender motivates him into the best shape he can be in. Also looking forward to a center that can pass and get away with illegal screens.

You think Ayton isn't going to be super motivated against us? My prediction is his best game of the year will be against us.

Phoenix or Detroit? Will he show out against Book or Monty? I think he'll put up a bunch of empty stats but I am actually looking forward to the sound bytes he'll drop this season when his team struggles to win 20 games and Scoot starts questioning Ayton's competitive fire.

The thing is, you can't call this a trade for the "engaged" Ayton. He simply wasn't reliably engaged at all.
I would have liked to see what Frank could get out of him. If was even partially what he was capable of it makes this trade bad. We will never know. Now I just hope this crap trade is actually addition by subtraction like the Suns hope.

Camara tho - that's the only part that bugs me - but it's probably the only way we get rid of Ayton

Book is as gangster as it gets when it comes to his will to win and Book knows what triggers Ayton - I don't see Ayton being a problem

Just to kick Ayton on his way out, dude changed his player jersey in 2k within an hour of being dealt. He's playing video games that quick after being traded.

However it all works out, one thing I can absolutely guarantee is there will be a thread on this forum by this time next year titled "What If We Hadn't Traded Ayton?" or something akin to that. Whether the theme of it is regret or relief is what remains to be seen.

My brother and I have been talking about this year. He is convinced that there won’t be an in between type season. Either the team is going all the way or it’s going to flame out and be a disaster.

It might be neither.

Well, I think for most of us we're at a "win it all or else" point so yeah, it will be championship or utter failure. We may not be horrible but it won't matter, it will feel like it if we don't finish it off this season.

Could also be one titled, "Thank GOD we traded Ayton!"

Cool...and he'll give half assed effort against every other team.

We're better off with this trade off.
