Well, Direct TV just gifted me the entire NBA League Pass package for my “loyalty”. Beyond stoked and now I get to watch every Suns game for free and probably/definitely annoy every single one of you in every single game thread!

Happy days!

So, I almost canceled on them this summer because they didn’t carry NFL Sunday Ticket. They threw me a 200 buck gift card and a year’s worth of free HBO/Cinemax credits, while lowered the overall bill by like 100 bucks for the next 12.

Called a couple times to eventually end up there. I’m thinking the free league pass is just another way to try and get me to ultimately stay.

And maybe God heard my plight on that other thread where he saw me say I couldn’t afford because of the strike and did me a solid.

Don’t know. Don’t care. Just happy I got it (but really, call and say you’re about to leave because of NFL Ticket. They’ll throw all sorts of stuff you’re way).

I have a friend who pulls that basically every other year with direct TV. He'd say he was cancelling and they'd give him the NFL package.

Not yet it isn't.
I agree... not yet. But it bears watching. I've been mostly on board with everything the Suns have done since he's been the owner. But there have been some slight misfires. Maybe he just came in overeager to make his mark (and that's certainly understandable). Hopefully he will get the hang of things as time goes on and put together a top notch front office to run things. Note - I don't think that should include Isiah Thomas (nor James Jones, necessarily).

What misfires are you referring to? I have not payed much attention since the playoffs.

This is going to go heavily one way or heavily the other.

I cannot imagine a franchise in a more extreme position than we are right now.

Victory or death.
Agree. Can’t recall a time in which it felt like it was this black and white, including 92-93 and SSOL era.

Giving up too many draft picks in the Durant deal and not maximizing the return on trading Ayton. Those things won't be too regrettable if we win it all next and/or the following year. But if not, there will be room to critique.

Yeah, I'm going to enjoy the ride, wide-eyed and hopeful, but if things go south there will be plenty to second guess and be pissed about. I'm just not going to focus on those things until the situation demands it.

Article seems kinda sketchy. Hard to tell from this photo:

Been on conference calls all morning. Is this just fan fodder or is there actual reports out there that the Ayton deal may change?
They were looking to trade the bucks guard in the deal, so maybe PHX could or could have flipped Allen in the deal for something. Not sure if it's official yet?

I know we hammered this way too many times, but it was NOT an overpay for Durant. Any team would have had to pay that. Not just the Suns. It was the going rate. Plus arguably, those picks are going to be low rounders anyway. So not very valuable in trades or keeping them. With Beal on the team now, that makes it even more likely those picks are at the end of the round. Most here agree that getting Beal was an underpay. So those two players equal out the compensation package to basically even.

He’s the one player I want.
A lot of guys on talk radio had him above Nurkic on the trade on who they liked in our trade. Not that he's necessarily better than Nurkic, but they like his hustle. Kind of replaces the tough guy element we are missing.

I am pretty sure there was no more to get out of Ayton. It was keep him or this. They have been trying to trade him for a long time. If there was a better deal to be had they would have done it by now.

Well, both are arguable points, nevertheless. The proof in the pudding will be the outcome. If Durant isn't able to stay healthy (just for one example), we will likely regret both trades.

It's not all about who we got in return - but more so who we got rid of

That's why folks called it addition by substraction

No more Bahamian Ben Simmons is a good thing

We should be celebrAyton

Yep, true, our pockets are empty but it's refreshing to have a FO that really goes 100 % for championship. That's unusual for a Suns club. We'll be here to witness it this season. :raccoon:

When Durant's contract expires we'll have some room for signing new players and have another go with Booker or whoever is left. Maybe we can trade for some picks. Good to have shed Ayton's contract though.

Go Suns!

Found some interesting info on Spotrac. It looks like we used the Saric trade exception as well as the Payne trade exception in deals to bring in Keon Johnson and Nassir Little. So those were concurrent deals with the Ayton trade but officially weren't part of the Ayton trade. The Ayton trade alone was just Ayton and Camera for Nurkic and Allen. Then separate deals were made involving the exceptions for Johnson and Little. Kind of odd. Not sure what it does for us, I know moving salaries are easier than exceptions because exceptions can't be combined.

Just thought it was worth noting that if true, we no longer have those exceptions available.

Info is available here, scroll down to the exceptions portion.
