It's been great seeing him put things together (albeit sometimes slower than we'd like). There was one play where he got the ball down low, looked out to pass to Booker in the weakside corner, realized he had only one defender on him before he went up with a nice soft hook for the bucket. That plus the 7 offensive rebounds! The assertiveness is slowly coming.

averaged 18.9 in his first 30 games.
Did you actually do the math just to prove me wrong? I didn’t say it was wrong just that I was wavering on whether the article meant the FIRST 30 games of their career or just a 30 game stretch.

Ayton is putting up incredible numbers, and this is playing without a point guard. Plus, he is only 20 years old. He is only going to get better.

I think we are all waiting for that game where Ayton has that "Ah ha!" moment, where he realizes he can score 30 plus any night.
Honestly I think before that happens his teammates have to have that “ah ha!” moment that he can get 30 plus any night. It looks like they are getting there. They are attempting to feed Ayton more but they just aren’t greatly effective at it (other than seemingly oubre who made a couple nice feeds in the post last night).

Sounds like some of you are equating the number of fouls someone gets to defense toughness.

He picks up two fouls in the first quarter and then has to sit. Then I read complaints that he doesn't or shouldn't foul so much.
Oh, well.

I have yet to read a single poster that has said “Ayton is fouling too much.” Not calling you out, I just haven’t seen a single example of what you’re claiming.

But there have been games when Ayton picked up quick fouls in the 1st quarter and had to be benched earlier than usual, haven't there?

At least with the emergence of Holmes, it hasn't been as damaging.

I think a better question than towns would be this:

Would you rather have Ayton now or Amare about this same time in his rookie year?

For me..... It's still Amare. I love what I am seeing from DA...... But I was flipping amazed at what I saw our future being when Amare hit the end of December. FYI..... He scored 38 on KG in Minny on 12/30/2002.

I literally couldn't believe what I was witnessing in 2002.

My daughter who plays basketball too, asked me how the suns were ten years ago. I said I would literally jump off the couch in pure joy when Amare made a spectacular play.

I said you see that there, Amare would have dunked that. Ayton just lays it up or is too soft with it. But Amare would have finished those plays. Then I brought up the Amare on Tolliver dunk, and sure enough the feed starts showing. Now that I think about it, this was the Minny game I think.

Sure but that is rare and happens to all players, so I’m not sure what your point is . . . ?

Amare had Marbury and Penny. Ayton hasn't played with a legitimate PG in his entire career. Would love to see him in a position where he can pick up 6-10 easy PPG a quality point would get him off dives and pick and rolls. He didn't have that at UA either.
