Relentless...

“His motor has to step up,” Arians said.

“He has all the athletic ability, it’s just a matter of getting a higher energy level. He’s used to beating guys on just his athletic ability and now everybody is good and if your motor’s not running hot you’re going to get beat.”

sometimes it takes a year ...hopefully not two to GET IT! He looks the part...just needs to figure it out. The one play getting blown off the ball...he'll learn from it...it'll motivate him ...I hope.

Hump needs to get serious and figure out that he better put in the full effort. He is a professional athlete now and there is no excuse.

More is expected from first round picks.

If he had a rep in college as a low energy guy, BASK shouldn't expect anything else. Busting his chops may get him moving or it may backfired, hopefully BA is reading him right. Some guys can take the week off and perform on Sunday. If so, not that big a deal. OTOH, if that's not the case with him, maybe he was the wrong guy to pick. You shouldn't draft or marry someone assuming you can change them

It seems like Keim's plan is to draft young guys that have high potential in early rounds that he thinks the coaching staff can develop. This make sense, especially when you're drafting towards the back of each round. The downside is that as long as it takes to develop the player without the player on the field is that much less time the Cards have the luxury of a cost controlled player on his rookie deal. I guess the front office has balanced this and made decision that it's worth the risk.

Some of you guys are way to sensitive all he's saying is he needs to get more consistant what's wrong with that.

You honestly think that's him getting on him and just being relentless makes me wonder how some of these guys grew up. You don't tell someone there doing great when there not that's not how you get better at anything.

If he's asked a question by the media he's going to answer it truthfully. As he should

I have no problem with BA calling him out nor do I have a problem with the pick just because he is not ready yet. As long as he takes the starting job next year and holds it for four years, he will be a successful draft pick.

For the record, BA is being relentless in his approach with Hump, and I love it! [emoji106]

My only fear is BA losing him with this approach - I've seen situations in all walks of life where if someone feels pressured like this, they feel the need to press, and then it just gets worse.

It's one thing to do this in a private meeting or on the field, but imagine if your boss at work made a point of showing up to happy hour with your buddies or dinner with your family and started shouting about how bad you were doing at work? It would build resentment pretty fast.

That is true, but if Hump breaks down over what he's been given so far by BA, he will never make it as a tackle in this league. He needs to mature, toughen up, and put in the work. It sounds like he doesn't take film study seriously and doesn't engage the techniques he is taught, relying still on his natural athletic ability.

I'd like for him to get his "welcome to the NFL" moment, but with OL, that usually means a QB ends up paying the price.

Could BA be sending a message to SK and his scouting department for making a BIG mistake in drafting him #1? Or to his assistant coaches for doing a poor coaching job with him?

I would say it is more likely that he just is not the best tackle on the roster just yet and needs to learn the game more. In college, you can rely solely on athleticism and strength, the NFL is far more complicated. He will be fine he just is not ready to start yet.
