Loading Watt sucks. So where does that leave us?

We need to be the 2019 Chiefs. We’re going to have to win games 34-27 and 31-24.

Jordan Phillips now looms large. Him and Peters have to stay healthy. They can clog the middle and we have the ability to pressure from the outside or inside with the blitz.

It would be a huge lift for this team if we were to beat the packers. Nobody is going to accept excuses and a loss will relegate us to just “ another” possible contender. Lol, we’ll probably drop to 10 in the power rankings.

This is why it’s crazy to post things like “ if we win this game we’re going to the Super Bowl” or how we “ could go 17-0”.

Keep the faith. These other teams are going to suffer set backs with injuries and Covid.

It’s been 1-0. Let’s keep that mindset.

If Phillips and Peters can stay healthy and we get a little development out of Collins to get another impact player on the field, as long as Kyler is healthy, we’re a contender.

I agree. The fact that everybody has been getting playing time is going to help. Phillips actually looked good last week and Peter’s is Mr. Steady.

I hear ya. However, now the other concern is the Oline.

The offense has been outstanding. However, if we want to be Chiefs 2019 then we need that level of Oline production. Can Hudson stay healthy? Beachum is 32. Josh Jones is still raw. Garcia is now having injury concerns.

If anything this makes you hope Simmons and Collins make up for the loss of Watt. We need another guy to emerge as a star.

The defense truely is a mirage if we suddenly go from top 2 in DVOA to bottom half of league after losing JJ Watt. Just been top 10 defense for rest of season got to be way more than enough to back up K1 & offense if they keep current pace

The defense wasn’t terrible last year and our back 7-8 seem to be better.
We’ll see

The Packer game is winnable, especially if Adams and Lazard don’t play, which seems likely. At this point let Simmons control Cobb and the Pack figures to have trouble scoring. It would help if Jones logs a couple of sacks. Rodgers hasn’t looked as elusive this season. I agree Phillips looked good and he can play big if he’s fully committed. Hudson will be back shortly and should be fine. He has no significant injury history. His injury was a fluke.

Why would Simmons cover Cobb when we have Byron Murphy who would be better suited to do so?

Dare I ask if the trade deadline has past yet lol

It hasn't but we don't have the space to say go get Fletcher Cox who's been pretty vocal he's unhappy in Philly's new defense.

Maybe there's some rotational guy we can get but IMO Watt had been our best defensive player the last 3 games. He was not only blowing up run plays he was consistently getting pressure on passing downs and the run stuff was done while being doubled which freed up other guys too

Chandler has to step up, gotta get Peters back and my wildcard would be Gardeck. In the last game he got "closer" to pressure he looks to be running well now he could be a source of pressure. But the key guy is probably Phillips he has to step in and play well

Sack Allen needs to step up also. I know its not a replacement, yet even having Watt on the sidelines can be beneficial to the D line. Like having an additional coach. It is a huge hit, yet we can still win this game tonight.

Our DL was devastated with injuries last season. Far, far worse than even this situation with JJ. We were pulling guys in off the street every week. We need Lawrence to get healthy, and Fotu @ Allen to step up. Don’t discount that Keim won’t go out and bring in a decent player. Trade deadline hasn’t ended. The DL group had the opportunity to play 2 months with JJ. Let’s hope they learned something.

Get Ertz on the phone with Cox asap. He’s the closest thing to JJ from a leadership standpoint that’s out there & is still a stud on the field. I’m not a capologist, but there always seems to be a way to maneuver short term around that.

Cox is basically untradeable the Eagles restructured him about 6 weeks ago to free up capspace this year so if they tried to trade him they would apparently incur a huge caphit in dead money. I just read that they basically can't move him this year or next year due to the restructure, just too much money. Eagles sites were saying they should trade him before they restructured because he was clearly unhappy with his role in the new defense. Now apparently they can't trade him

The Eagles have the money this year to do it but the problem is if they want to eat 24 mil in dead space next year because it would essentially put them over the projected cap. I think the cap is what it is at this point and what would it would really come down to is the return.
