Unless it was the Cardinals. They’re not going to ban something that only one team truly has success with it. Hell, Buffalo with Josh Allen made it look impossible to convert.
No, but player safety was the argument used in the attempt to get the Rules Committee to ban it.So rules are based entirely on injury risk?
This is absolutely how I feel.Strong disagree. Eagles used their brains and came up with an advantage within the rules. If other teams can't do it as well then that's on them.
Don't I remember a time when pushing your own player was illegal ?Yeah… I don’t get banning it. It’s smash mouth football. Doesn’t seem like there’s anything illegal. It’s about as Mano-a-Mano as the sport gets and just because one team’s perfected it, shouldn’t mean they should be penalized for it, IMO.
That's the way it always was. Only recently was the tush push made legal.
Yeah, how about you stop them before. How about you stop them BEFORE they get to 3rd or 4th and one?
Only a few years ago you couldn’t push a ball carrier on your team from behind. The change in that rule led to the Tush Push. Just revert that rule and it eliminates players getting squashed between their own teammate and a tackler. The "tush push play" should be banned. It was no fun watching the Eagles-Commanders Championship game and seeing this constantly used by the Eagles and their QB Hurts. Sorry but IMO this is not football.
The “new kick off bs” has led to less injuries, more returns, and more TDs on returns.keep the tush play - get rid of all the new kick off bs
To play devil's advocate here, if a defense is allowed to gang tackle and push the runner/receiver back to keep them from making a FD or TD then why should it be illegal for an offensive player to push their teammate forward to help get a FD or TD? There are a lot more gang tackles where two or more defenders are tackling an offensive player in a game than a tush push.

It actually improved the game. Why revert?
I thought the rule was changed so you couldn't pull people forward, pushing as always been allowed. We've seen it on run plays down the field for decades now...No, until recently it was illegal to assist in the forward progress of another player.
Pushing a runner back is moot as spot is based on forward progress. To play devil's advocate here, if a defense is allowed to gang tackle and push the runner/receiver back to keep them from making a FD or TD then why should it be illegal for an offensive player to push their teammate forward to help get a FD or TD? Yes but sometimes an additional defender is needed to stop forward progress, or at least direct it laterally.Pushing a runner back is moot as spot is based on forward progress.
Totally different

And the percentage of kicks returned for TDs actually went down. Returns more than doubled -- almost tripled.arena ball tds
let's everybody stay perfectly still and watch the ball fly over our headsAnd the percentage of kicks returned for TDs actually went down. Returns more than doubled -- almost tripled.
I don't really care one way or another; the play looks fundamentally weird. I don't think there's another football play where the ball moves and no one else does.
Looks funny and I don't like it because it removes some options for on side kicks. They don't happen often but I like having the option of a trick or surprise one. I still have the same complaint of the PAT kick being on the 15 instead of the 2. No trick 2 pointers. And the percentage of kicks returned for TDs actually went down. I vaguely remember it being illegal for another offensive player to help a ball carrier with forward progress. I also think that rule was changed, hence, here we are. If they're allowed by the rules to do it, the impetus is to find a way to stop it. I hate it. I think its garbage football. But its within the rules.Agreed - if a defensive person can't use another defensive person for leverage on a kick, why is the offense allowed to do the same?
Did you not read the post three above yours? It has been 20 years since pushing the ball carrier forward has been illegal.Only a few years ago you couldn’t push a ball carrier on your team from behind. The change in that rule led to the Tush Push. Just revert that rule and it eliminates players getting squashed between their own teammate and a tackler.
This actually isn't a bad idea at all bro!Edited it to what I meant.
The issue isn't the QB sneak, the issue is the player being pushed forward from behind.

But, the offensive player is granted forward progress to the point he made before being pushed back.To play devil's advocate here, if a defense is allowed to gang tackle and push the runner/receiver back to keep them from making a FD or TD then why should it be illegal for an offensive player to push their teammate forward to help get a FD or TD?
