if he's not taking a bad shot he's putting others in position to take a worse one. You can rag on amare, you can rag on diaw, but this is the guy the one that should have a 9 page thread on him. No defense, awful shot selection, no court vision. I don't care how in the moment I'm in right now, this guy will truly never learn.

I always imagined Barbosa as having a bit more intensity than he showed so far tonight.

Barbosa looked like the scared Barbosa of old tonight. What happened to the sixth man of the year who had untapped potential?? Missed shots, wild dribbling, and a lack of playmaking marked this series. I wouldn't mind trading him for a real backup PG.

This kids waits way too much with the ball. His one asset is his speed and he waits for the "right" man to pass to while the whole team stands around. What a joke.
Trade him now.

He's been a GIANT disappointment this year IMO. He's taken a big step backwards.

It's the Curse of the Suns' Extension.

Once their new contract kicks in, say goodbye to the old.

LB may be awful, but it's DA's fault to play him as much as he did! Why not use Gira or even DJ when it's apparent that Hill and LB weren't in the game? Right, he might hurt their egos! :(

I agree, I didnt get to watch too much of this game but I can tell you from the last one this guy has no buisness playing right now. Everytime he touches the ball I cringe, its silly how Many ways this guy can kill our team

Do ya'll realize that Barbosa had 0 points tonight. ZERO. 0-7 from the field. This is a man who was putting up 30 points nights last year. Combined with a gimpy Hill taking no shots and also scoring 0 points, that's 1/4 of our 8 man rotation contributing ZERO OFFENSE.

Bill Simmons talked on his podcast about how D'Antoni should have played Strawberry 20 mpg this season, let him make his mistakes and develop his confidence for the playoffs. Unfortunately we couldn't do it because of the tight playoff race and the huge amount of pressure the Suns are under to win now. Imagine if we could play Strawberry to defend Parker, since Hill is out? This is where our thin bench is killing us.

2 things about Barbosa. He is good during the regular season but man that guy can disappear in the playoffs. Especially, against the Spurs. Because his contact has been so good I said we can't trade him.

However, 2 things of changed my mind. First off, it's all about the playoffs. Barbosa just cannot be relied on. Second, Barbosa does not and never will play defense well enough to stop anybody.

So with Bell getting older and Barbosa not being a good PG, I say trade him. There are still a bunch of teams looking for a guard. Use him as trade bait if you have to.

This team needs another stud. Especially, one that can play some "D".

Barbosa has all the tools to play D, he is often too able to freelance into bad position and angles, he lacks defensive discipline almost as if he isn't trying at it at all. Geez why does that sound like our other guy who has all the tools? hmmm come to think of it, who has gotten better on defense under this staff?

They need to rehire Ivaroni. Problem is I think he drove DA nuts a few times.

Just pulled this.

Marc Iavaroni Safe?
Finally, Marc Iavaroni has been rumored to be on the chopping block by a number of well-known outlets.

Obviously the Memphis Grizzlies had a difficult season winning just 22 games. Unless General Manager Chris Wallace is playing very coy, his recent conversation with HOOPSWORLD's Bill Ingram suggests that Iavaroni is indeed safe.
"I think Coach Iavaroni and his staff did a good job particularly in light of the very difficult circumstances they had to work under," said Wallace. "We had one team prior to the Pau Gasol trade; and we had another team after.
"I think they did a very good job with those changes. More importantly throughout the whole year (even though we had our ups and downs - and there was no light at the end of the tunnel as far as a potential playoff berth was concerned), Marc and the staff kept this team playing hard, focused on their individual and team improvement."
"He kept hope alive," said Wallace in what appeared to be an endorsement of his so-called embattled coach.
Barring a drastic change in direction, it would seem the Grizzlies are not making a coaching change this summer.

He has the bad habit of leaning forward too much at doing anything on the court. That's why he can't be a good defender.

That's what a defensive minded coach would change. Leandro is Mike's Instant O guy, unfortunately no one is Mike instant D guy. the one guy who was brought in to be that has now fell madly in love with his offense.

Did anyone else watch the defensive masterpiece SA out on tonight? and then pop went run and gun to seal it, his guys can do everything at need. There is no reason why Amare and Leandro could not be lockdown defenders but the culture has to change and that my friends is coaching.

Barbs and D'Antoni would be a nice,"offensive" package deal for someone else.

B.T.W., i do believe that Barbs and Amare have the ability to be solid defensively....just not under the Genius.

Barbosa is a great player, better than anyone wearing a Spurs uniform tonight for sure. If the refs weren't so blatantly biased the Suns win by a dozen.

It makes sense to me. Amare isn't lazy Leandro isn't smart but he isn't an idiot, he has Mike Dantoni's brother teaching him. For god sakes no wonder why he chokes in big games. It's sabatoge deh deh deh dah dehdadadent

The effect barbosa's failure has on the whole team is directly attributed to mike's "rotation."

When you only really trust two bench players, you are thus relying on them to produce a great deal. If they completely go in the tank the whole team is screwed because of how much you rely on them.

Look at utah for example (since they play 9-10 deep). If kyle korver has a terrible game they at least have other guys that can possibly pick him up.

This 7-8 man rotation crap has been a complete failure and is the biggest indictment of mike's system.
