They can trade their 2011 pick though.

You can't trade picks in consecutive years. Fortunately for us the league created this rule to protect owners from themselves. Since the Suns traded their 2008 and 2010 picks the next pick they could trade would be 2012.

Of course the world will end in 2012 anyway so I guess that pick isn't really all that valuable.

I hope it doesn't happen 'cause Leandro will literally cry (and I hate to see a grown man cry).

For some reason I thought they traded this years pick, not next year.

Thanks for the correction.

Trading Barbosa would be insane. I don't even know how to describe giving him away for nothing. He has vastly improved on both ends of the floor since last year and has an amazing contract. Barbosa should be untouchable.
Next offseason is going to be ugly though. They'll be paying LT and 2 bargain players (Hill and Barnes) will be gone.

Isn't Phoenix Stan the same guy who said Amare to Chicago was a done deal and that it would be announced on Monday?

Sounds like Mortensen. Maybe he is dabbling in the NBA during the football off-season...

This is a completely bogus and ridiculous rumor. The Suns looked good last night and it is a travesty to feel anything good about this team, so this "blogger" throws out this rumor. Give me a break.

What's even funnier are the posts following the OP that start the Sarver-bashing when he didn't even do anything.

I don't care. Whether its a rumor or not, if it's trade dealing with money, Sarver is to blame, pure and simple. He has done more worse than good for this franchise. I don't know if you been reading news articles lately, but he's becoming the running joke of the NBA.

Let's make it clear, $arver isn't hurting. No one with 1 mill in the bank is hurting, hell probably 1/5th of that. $arver has much more than that.

Hurting isn't seeing your worth go from say 500 mill to 300 mill, even if it's a 200 mill drop. Why? Because you still have enough to do whatever you want for however long you want until you die.

Sorry, if $arver wants pity on paying the LT, he might have gotten it if he didn't trade all our assets away the last few years until we only have our expensive core (not even the most talented core by quite a bit), and bargain vets.

Again, $arver says, if not in contention next season? Well he sure created his own reality there by all the horrible trades.

Hi, my name is Donald Sterling. I run the Clippers. I let all my talent go and generally make money decisions, not basketball ones. But I have to tell Clipper fans, that if we aren't in contention next year, I'm trading away Baron Davis, Zach Randolph, Al thorton and whoever else I can to stay under the luxury tax.

Obviously I just wrote that, but does it sound familiar?

Also with $arver's actions in bringing this about, doesn't it seem more like a threat?

I'm going to make it impossible to win it all, and when I see we can't win it all, I have an excuse to trade people away so I don't pay luxury tax.

It may not have been the plan, but as owner initiating deals involving $$$ over talent he should OWN up to his mistakes.

To me it seems like he is throwing in the towel. Too bad someone should already show him a hamper with all the towels he's already thrown in for each trade over the last few seasons

Blame for what? This was a thread about a rumored trade of Barbosa! If you want to bash Sarver for generalities, there are hundreds of other threads for that.

Pretty much stole my thunder. I love how everyone is quick to crush other internet rumors, but not one as bogus as this because it has to do with Sarver being cheap.

One of the stupidest rumors I have read yet. There is zero logic to this trade. If the Suns were going to make cap related moves...they sure as hell wouldn't start with a contributing player on the team who has a bargain of a contract.

Phoenix Stan is full of crap.

C'mon Chaplin, you know where I'm coming from. Sarver is running the show here. This trade makes no sense at all, but if it saves him a buck or two, then who else is to blame IF it does happen? Whether it's a a rumor or not is semantics. In fact, the whole thing got started because of Sarver's unwillingness to pay LT.

No, it started because you believe a ridiculous rumor and because of that rumor, it's all Sarver's fault.

Geez your uptight. No one would believe the rumor if Sarver hadn't already traded away our starting center and two first round draft picks for NOTHING!

Or sold off god knows how many first round picks etc.

But all that did happen. So the idea of trading LB for a second round pick to save money sounds extremely plausible. I definitely wouldn't put it past Sarver.

Get off your soapbox, Chaplin.

It is a silly rumor that even Sarver would pass on.

Move along now. Nothing to see here.

Wow someone needs to calm down. Take up smoking or something.

This came from Phoenix Stan who got the info from sdu. He was the one who said porter WILL be fired a couple days before it happen. Coming from sdu ( who claims to know someone inside) I feel this is atleast thread worthy. But just to be straight, sdu said it may happen likely but not 100% certain (unlike porter which he was 100% certain)

Please. He also said that Amare to Chicago was pretty much a done deal. There are rumors that make some sense and then there are rumors that are ridiculous. Any rational human being should be able to tell between the two.

They don't need to trade Barbosa for nothing. Cuban is going to take Shaq and help us shed 5M payroll in the deal, a news from Dallas has just confirmed it. Why is Sarver hesitating? He personally hates Cuban more than we do? LOL
