Is it just me or is "the bean" the most annoying thing ever?

No, it's not just you (by a long shot). Besides, every time I read that name I keep flashing on an Ender's Game character. Great book, great series, horrible nickname.

I rate "the bean" an elite 97 out of 92 possible in all annoyance skillsets.

LOL. To be fair, I'm not a big fan of nicknames in the first place but The Bean does not conjure an impressive picture.

Feed Chris Wells

We can even throw in Cody Broil and Hax Maul! ( Hacks Mauled him)

CHRIST WELLS, for Beans sake.

does anybody else get excited when you see the double stiff arm Giants TD, Or the spin TD against the Seahawks, Or Running over the Packer that fell to the fetal position,

I just don't see any other back that punishing or strong, with limited carries. I mean I enjoy that other Chis running like his hair is on fire, But Beanie Chris Wells would reach across the field and eat him!

give BEANIE CHRIS WELLS 358 carries and watch the destruction.

Bartel looked very sharp. He ran the offense crisply and efficiently. His passes were all (except one I think) right on the money and catchable. He didn't try to make it all about him, but did his part within the offense and did it well.

This is the first time I have seen him with extended playing time. I am pleased. He looks like our #2 qb and I like Skelton.
I agree, I like Skelton, and Bartel is better imo.

Weak arm and not accurate enough? Not sure where that came from...

He was very accurate and went deep just fine.

Richard Bartel executes the offense better than any other QB on the roster. He doesn't have the physical skills of either Kolb or Skelton (which will hold him back) but he has made the most out of his time with the Cardinals and flat out knows our offense. Kolb will over take him eventually as he gets more time in the system, but as of right now, Bartel is executing it to a T.

He is good. He should be number 2. And there are many skills in his game that I like better than Kolb's. He shouldn't start, Kolb has been better, but if Kolb struggles at some point, I would rather see Bartel in than Skelton.

Skelton has the most potential of all our QB's. If he learns how to read the defenses and the offense, he can be a very good QB.

Great to have a guy as a backup at QB who completed 73% of his passes at 10 yards per attempt.

We're a lot better off at #2 QB than with AJ Feeley, Thaddeus Lewis, Charlie Whitehurt, or Josh McCown or Brian St.Pierre or Max Hall.

In checking into the preseason QB stats, i was amazed by how many familiar names i saw at the top of the list... and at where they ranked relative to one another!

I was going to pull up Leinart's 2010 preseason stats for comparison but they have been mysteriously expunged from NFL.com here and here! I was just curious to see how the stats compared, since if i read correctly, on the THESMEL scale based on preseason performance, Leinart > Croyle > Bartel > Kolb.

...dave

NOTE: In case it is not clear, i am very well aware of the value of preseason stats, ranking players based on very small sample size, etc. Just thought this was interesting / amusing!

Let's not get overly excited here, folks. Croyle has sucked pretty bad. Bartel played well--against a bunch of last-teamers and cuts. He looked good doing it, and has earned a spot on the team, but certainly not the #2 job. Skelton played rather well this preseason and has had more time with the team. So, it should be Kolb, Skelton, and Bartel, as the 3 QBs, in that order.

Oh, yeah, and the depth chart that was just posted said exactly that. Damn, I'm good ;)

If a guy runs a 9.6 100 meters against scrubs and cuts he's still fast.

Bartel is generating optimism not just because of his stats but as you say he has looked like an NFL QB doing it. I never saw that in Brian St.Pierre or Max Hall.

On the other hand I haven't seen anything from Kolb to make me think he is a top NFL QB. I think Game Rewind at nfl.com comes on line this week so I need to go watch a couple of his previous games so I'm not just seeing pre-season stuff.

I don't know. I guess I just expected a more polished look from a guy who has 4 years in the NFL with Andy Reid and 4 in college with Art Briles and not hearing fans say that its because Kolb hasn't had enough time in the system and he'll get better.

Probably just gun shy after BSP being touted as a potential starter and last season's fiasco with DeWreck and mini-Max.

To me Bartel may have been the biggest surprise of the preseason. The guy looked great. Very much poised and accurate. Hangs in the pocket to make a play also.

Remember, Kolb had ZERO prep time. Give him a chance.
