It's starting to get real old, real quick. They're going to drag this season out so that Baltar's trial is the finale, and they don't have the imagination to do much in between. Taken on the face of it, each filler episode is decent enough, but the drone of them one after another is booooooring. I'm not sure it's even worth watching at this point.

The pace needs to pick up on the show. However, I think I have a feeling why we are getting so many fillers. I personally think these filler shows are to save on budget. Come up with some interesting stories (or not so interesting stories) until they get to the one they really want to make. Sci-fi shows are notorious for writing around their budgets. There are also rumors that if Sci-fi orders an additional 13 episodes, it could mark the end of the series. Here is the link.

If that's the case, they need to blow the rest of their budget on this season and simply end it. This show will suck balls if they are allowed to be so completely ruled by the almighty dollar. I find it hard to believe, though, since they ostensibly get more of a budget each year (for a show growing in popularity) and they were able to do it just fine in previous seasons. Meh. Who knows?

I remember seeing an interview about Star Trek NG. In that interview they said if one episode called for alot of FX (more then usual), that usually meant they cut FX scenes from another espisode to keep within budget. I have heard similar things about other shows. There is no way they could afford a space battle scene with Cylons every episode.

So I wouldn't say that the almighty dollar completely dictates everything but I do think it has an impact on the stories. Meaning that shows that are just on the ship per say are much cheaper then scenes that contain battles in space. So I think writers pick their spots so to speak.

As I aksed before, why didn't the first two seasons and the first half of the third season drag with these filler episodes? The writers managed to intermingle them and keep the action going. Why is it bogging down now? It ain't the money; I think that is obvious.

I disagree. Usually when a show is new you can squeeze more money out of the network and if the ratings are decent they give you some room. However, there has been rumblings about ratings since last season. So getting extra dollars is probably much harder.

Also, we really don't know what is in store for the end of the season. If they have already laid out some major story arcs at the end of the season with some major action, that money has to come from somewhere. It's not like they are going to go to the network and say "thanks for this season budget, by the way we need an extra $10 million for the end of the season".

I see it from a different perspective. I think the fact that we are seeing more filler episode points more to the fact of budget issues then in previous seasons or that they are planning for some big episodes at the end of the season. I hope it's because of a big push at the end myself.

Regardless, the season is spiraling into boredom. I don't really care whether or not it is budgetary. It's only going to hold my allegiance for a short time, unless the show and the writers gets their collective acts together.

I hear ya. The show really needs to get to it. I would either like some direction in terms of the show following a mission (unravel some mysteries around the gods a la the map or arrow) or just get on with some serious Cylon action.

I do like some of the issues they bring up but between the move to 11pm Sunday and the plot lines lately you would think they are trying to kill the show.

Who else here is just a little PO about SB exploding? :thud:

I really really hope this is just part of a bigger story and that she is not gone for good. If they wrote her off the show then I just became alot less interested in this show.

No offense to the other characters but to me her character was part of the heart and soul of the show (even though I hated the love triangle crud). I am so tempted to go to a spoiler site to see what happens now.

Thoughts?

Not sure how to create the spoiler thing, so here goes, manually...

*****SPOILER*****

I actually think we're seeing the introduction of the beings of light, or whatever those guardians were called from the original episode. I think they took Starbuck. You'll note she ejected and was not found. That's my call, and I'm sticking to it.

I think that her being a Cylon is a definite posibility. However, we know they are redoing the "Light Ship" stuff for this series. With all the talk about destiny, after life etc.... I am leaning towards her being taken by the Light Ship beings myself. Especially if they were the ones generating the illusion of the Cylon ship the entire time for Starbuck.

No way. No frakin' way. They make Starbuck a cylon, and they've sent the shark into orbit rather than simply jumping the shark. We find out Starbuck or either Adama or Roslin is a Cylon, and that's all she wrote for me watching this show.

Well I think some people are under the impression that the final 5 are definitely Cylons. We already know that the Cylons have a different interpretation of the religion. So the 5 that were seen might not be Cylons at all. This could go in so many directions right now.

Although there could be a chance I doubt that is how it will turn out.

Uhg......

Care to expand? Do you mean last nights episode? I really liked the Lawyer character. Also liked that they are trying to deal with KT-S death. Other then that, episode wasn't that interesting.

Wow, a bit of interesting stuff and some plot development, but the show is just dying on the vine.

RM is a great producer/writer. I have at times though read interviews about stuff that he thinks the fans want and disagreed with him. The show has become very methodical and to me is danger losing the core audience as well if things don't pick up and fast.

If they drag the Baltar trial out across 3 more episodes I will go nuts!!!
