I thought he looked great at finding the holes on the few carries he had. He has the potential to make me forget about AP.

Yeah if our genius HC can stop trying to force TH in there at starting RB! We saw it didn't work last year and he still is not fast enough or just doesn't have the vision to be our starting RB. Hopefully the Whiz will get Wells more carries ASAP!!

the NFC Championship banner hanging in our stadium, and the lack there of in Minny made me forget about AP. but then again I STILL don't think AP would be AP if we drafted him.

Your probably right Syracuse he probably would have had some catostrophic injury if we had drafted him haha! We never had him so I don't really miss him to tell you the truth we did fine last year without an AP. Hindsight is clearly he should have been the pick but oh well thats our front office sometimes.

sarcasm and sidesteppping my point aside, here he would have had NO offensive line (especially our line minus Levi Brown on run blocking) while in Minny he has an amazing oline.

Maybe I was not clear, I don't think he would have done what he has done with Minny here as we still have one of if not the worst Olines in the NFL, and probably would have gotten hurt or something.

Peterson would be potential, not All-Day.
Wells will be fine, but never a Peterson.

I understand the cautious optimism but Wells is going to be a stud. He has the "it" factor. I think it shows even this early. On one of his runs, when he got the handoff I was reserved to the idea that it was going to be a 1 to 2 yard gain because there was no hole and it looked just like every other 1 yard dive the Cardinals have attempted since 2005.

But Wells exploded through a tiny crack and turned it into a 7 yard gain. He's got vision, great burst, can get small, can make a defender miss, can break tackles...he's shown all of this in his minuscule amount of playing time. The guy's the real deal and just needs to get more carries.

I don't even like talking about it any more but the point is the line wouldn't have to be as good here for AP as it is in Minnesota.

AP doesn't have Fitz, Boldin and Breaston. Teams would have to pick their poison play 7 in the box we run, play 8 in the box we throw. The offense would have balance.

Wells is no AP but I think he can be good enough to give us that balance.

All I know is this, Wells is a starting NFL back and it makes no sense to have him on the sideline on plays where his potential big play abilities are being wasted. I really like Hightower, but as a goal line back and recieving back...not the starter.

Wells isn't playing because he is so quick to the line that the coaches are worried Warner can't make the handoff in time. :D

I think it's mainly that he missed too much time with injury etc in the preseason and the coaches want to be sure he knows the plays before they play him too much.

I think they're probably reducing the playbook when he's in which they feel restricts their offense. But the way the kid runs, I'd like to see him get more carries.

Doesn't matter how quick he is if he goes the wrong way. ;)

Wells didn't go the wrong way. Warner turned around and Wells was already in the 49ers secondary. I thought maybe the Cards were running the old triple option. :D

I think that Wells will become the goal line back because of his speed.

TH played played the most at RB because he was one of the best Cardinals receivers on the field. It seems the other Cardinal receivers could not get open or Warner could not find them.

Warner seemed absolutely slow with his reads of the defense and getting the ball out quickly. He made fast reads last season which made the Cardinals passing game effective.

Adrian Peterson is the best back in the league. Beanie Wells would have to get All-Pro consideration before I start forgetting.

I was reading Kent Somers' blog today and he said that if Wells didn't muff that first handoff, it was probably going to be a big play. One thing is for sure, I have not seen a Cardinals RB hit the hole as fast and powerful as BEanie did yesterday. He needs to see more touches a game. I would also like to see the Cards use a two back set with Hightower and Wells. I think that could be the bread and butter of the Cards offense and make Fitz, Q, and Breaston a luxury that they could use to put teams away for good.

Wells play yesterday was one of the few bright spots. He should get 15-20 touches a game now. TH not near the runner Wells is.

Wells has a chance to be something really special.. He isn't there yet, but the signs are. TH would be a good change of pace back and 3rd down back..I don't see the explosion there though that I see with Beanie.

You cannot compare AP and Wells. Beanie hasn't done anything yet.. Week 3 will be interesting because the Colts have Donald Brown, who we supposedly wanted above Beanie, and looked good against Jacksonville.

THT is a dancing back between the 20s which is real annoying, find a hole and HIT it. not always going to be a 40 yard run and if you go for the homerun ball every time rushing, you never get it.

I agree 100%. He should have been the pick. Oh "Wells" time to move on.

Beanie Wells should be the starter with Hightower being a 3rd down back. I think Hightower can be a 3rd down Larry Centers type back to get you that 3rd down. Hightower is not an everydown back IMO.

It will definitely take Beanie a while to get the play book down. After all, he missed the entire offseason and most of training camp. But when he does, and teams have to respect the Cardinals ground game, this offense has a chance to be even more special IMO. If nothing else, the O-line will get excited and energized having a genuine threat to go the distance.
