I just read an interview with Frank Martin on the radio in Chicago. He said Beasley has no character issues. Beasley's troubles in high school were just "a young kid having fun."

Apparently, Martin used to teach in the "inner city." He is an expert and Beasley is a great kid. Blah blah blah.

Google Frank Martin sometime he was fired while coaching in HS in Florida because of rampant cheating. They eventually "Cleared" him by saying they couldn't prove he was directly involved in the cheating.

They forfeited every game one year on a state title team that included both Udonis Haslem and Steve Blake because star players(Haslem one of them) used fake addresses to be admitted to the school they didn't live in the attendance area. That school had been caught doing the exact same thing more than once before so Martin got fired over it.

So when you consider what Martin's done himself in the past he probably has a different perception of character issues than some of us.

I guess I'm confused, Memphis doesn't set picks it's one of the basic tenets of the offense Calipari got from Vance Walberg. The closest thing they do to a pick is the handoff where the dribbler hands off to a teammate and in the process of doing that they essentially pick the handoff guys man. Before they played UCLA someone asked Ben Howland how are you going to hedge the pick against an offense that doesn't set picks and he said we'll just have to hedge the handoffs.

Everyone wondered if Kansas would play zone against them but save a few trips here or there Kansas stuck with its man. Their guards are so good on defense and Collins played Rose so tough they were able to get away with it.

Doesn't really matter we both seem to think Rose is a fabulous prospect I'm just confused what you were saying about defending the pick unless you're talking about the handoff.

I was reacting to the way the TV guys were describing it. Perhaps the offense was not supposed to look like pick and roll; but there was no effort to isolate and KU was able to double without having to pull guy from across the court. The double teams forced Rose to pass the ball or lose the ball from back side which was the KU goal.
