Suns source: Michael Beasley is "toxic," team in tailspin, could lead to major shakeup.

I'm not familiar with Shaun Powell but this is interesting, to say the least.

Suns fans have known all season (as well as any NBA basketball fans) that it could lead to a major shakeup. We are waiting to hear that it has led to a major shakeup.

"Interesting".... perhaps. Surprising? Not at all...

I wish something would happen because as it is now, it stinks.

The only good thing is that our high lottery chances are increasing at a rapid rate.

Suns are about 6 months late in realizing the toxicity of the Sleaze...

I wonder how desperate they might be to rid themselves of him. Pair him with one of our late projected picks and send him to some team as desperate as we were? Is anyone actually that desperate at this point?

The trade talk really will pick up around the 15th when most players become eligible to be traded, hopefully there is some really really stupid front office out there who might be willing to take him just for an expiring.

And I made a post after we signed him where I predicted that by... I believe February... the Suns and their fans would begin pondering what it would take just to get rid of him... looks like I was off by several months.

At least he does not have a crazy contract. I would rather have PJ in there who has busted his a** and thankful for the opportunity. Would a frye-Beasley for Gasol trace work with the numbers?

What numbers are we talking about here? The # of cocaine kilos Kupchak would have to consume before he considered it? The number of hours we would have to spend waterboarding him?

Frye and Beasley are probably 2 of the least tradeable players in the entire league.

I think a healthy Frye is tradable but we don't have a healthy Frye. I can't see how Beasley could be traded without giving up real assets or taking back an albatross in return. It's better to just live with the guy's contract, we're going nowhere no matter what we do in the immediate future. Anyway, the problem isn't that Beasley is on the roster, it's that he's on the court and that is very correctable. Just sit him.

I totally agree. Just sit Beasley. Maybe next season the Suns can move him in a package trade especially if his third year is only partially guaranteed.

On an optimistic note, the Suns moved Turkoglu when I didn't think they had a chance.

Maybe the shakeup is from the top?

Courtesy of carey:

@cedceballos: If u were a BAD player (bad meaning, can't play) u will never b a good GM. #nuffced

Seth Pollack regarding Lance Blanks:

In theory he’s making personnel decisions, evaluating talent, telling Babby which guys to get, etc.

It’s not at all clear how this is working in reality. Gentry has little to no respect for Blanks (unless that’s changed this season) so the interaction between those two is a big issue that will have to be resolved one way or another (unless it’s been resolved recently…but I doubt it).

More:

Alexey Karamazov: Gentry is famous for getting along with everyone, and surely wouldn’t dislike Blanks without a good reason.

Seth: There are reasons …there’s a lot of “Stuff” floating around about Blanks and I’ve yet to meet anyone who speaks well of him. Of course, I’ve not talked to his family and Babby doesn’t count.

I don't know why one would make that assumption. Being a player and being a GM are much different jobs. Blanks may indeed be a bad GM, but it's not because he was a bad player. That's just silly.

I believe Blanks has been making player personnel decisions or recommending such because that's his job as the Suns GM. I believe removing Blanks from the equation would yield positive results providing the Suns find a replacement that knows NBA basketball with an eye for talent. It would be money well spent.

Gortat, Dudley, Beasley, and a first-round pick for Stoudemire.
Damon Stoudamire, now an assistant coach for the Memphis Tigers? At the age of 39, he could probably suit up for us and make a greater contribution than Beasley. :)

Wow. Or is it, Cool? We have our own soap opera. I had no idea there was this much going on behind the scenes. Maybe they should televise that stuff and deep-six the game broadcasts?

On some of the satellite feeds for the games they stay with the broadcast crew instead of going to commercials and the mics stay live. It's pretty interesting because they say things they never say on the air. Found out during the last game that Brown and Telfair don't get along.

I didn't know that either, I'm learning all kinds of things about this team. Anybody have a clue what's behind the Brown/Telfair relationship? Often when you start hearing about individual problems like this it's indicative of a much larger chemistry issue with the squad.

It really didn't sound like a huge deal, just to co-workers who don't like one another. I'm sure it's fairly common.

If Frey was healthy we could use him. If he cannot play and cannot play again his contract could have value as Id imagine it would be insured. That being said I agree I would not take back Garbage for Beasley. at least not worse Garbage. The worse case if they could just tell him to go home and try to work out a trade. We did get rid of Hedo. But would not trade anyone of nay kind of value to get rid of his contract

You're probably right. This is the kind of stuff that leaks out when you're team is in shambles.

Just cut him or sit him. We are not over the cap and we won't get that much more space by trading him. Keep the picks. What an absolutely horrible time to be a sports fan in Phoenix.

Beas and Gortat for Gasol. If it works right, it could be bad for both teams (which would be good for us).

As much as I'd love to screw the Lakers I dont see them going for that. The value is okay... given the state of Gasol's knees, but if they move Gasol it will be for a stretch 4, Gortat clearly isnt that and while in an ideal world Beasley could become that type of player there is no way that D'Antoni would want a ball stopper like the Sleaze anywhere near his offense. He needs a catch and shoot guy, not a catch... hold... dribble... shoot a contested 22 foot shot with his big toe on the 3 point line... brick... kind of guy.
