This Celtics game is what happens when a coach (Porter) loses a team. It's been coming for a while. The Suns have lost their identity and their chemistry. The players are now just going through the motions. Just don't tell me how much better the Suns are without DA.

I hope Sarver sells the team soon.

I liked DA(still do) but I was ok with the Suns parting ways. The reasoning was sound in the team wasn't going to get over the hump with him so why not try something new. The only 2 problems I had with the whole situation were 1. no adequate replacement was available and 2. I felt like DA was the Suns biggest FA draw with a complete rebuild around the corner.

He hasn't lost this team. What do you expect when down by 30? Them trying to fight their way back when clearly it wasn't their night?

I expect the Suns to play with pride. They barely beat the Raptors yesterday and lost to Minnesota at home. IMO, Porter has lost the team. They were giving uncontested shots to the Celtics. I didn't think the Suns would win this game going in but nor did I expect them to lay down. I'm thinking the Suns will not make the playoffs with poor efforts against both the good and the bad teams.

He hasn't lost this team. Getting down 30 doesn't mean he lost this team. It just means tonight wasn't our night. All teams go through this...

It was just a little over a month ago that another professional sports team from Arizona travelled to snowy Boston (New England) and proceeded to have their ass handed to them on a platter. That team did not show up and lost their football game by 40 points. Everyone thought they were a joke and had no business being in the playoffs and that they would surely be dispatched in the first round.

That team is now going to the Superbowl. A lot can be learned by such humbling defeats.

Clearly this means that the Suns are going to the NBA Finals!

This Suns team will find it hard coming out of the Western conference to win anything. Oh well, the window of opportunity closed last year and was sealed this year by the drafting of Robin Lopez and Dragic. The 3 points by Amare (our superstar) is laughable.

worst case scenario is for the suns to lose one of their 'best players' to injury.

Andrew, we were down 30 by half time. No, all teams don't go through that. Only extremely bad ones.

Haven't you noticed that big games are never our nights?

I guess if you wanted to stretch the truth you could believe all of that... but if you wanted to be intellectually honest with yourself, you would recognize the 'poor identity' the Suns had last January. Or, how about their terrible chemistry at that same time :doi:

This isn't Porter's issue. The problem lies with that piece of Crap that was tagged "our building block" - yes, Amare! His prima dona antics pissed off Marion (and Shawn is so weak minded, he couldn't deal with it), and no coach has had the balls to call him out. In fact, there was only one that actually did call him a puss - Jerry C (but alas, he is now gone). Amare's defense is terrible. He has not improved his inside game at all. He lacks any rebounding capability for a man his size. And, finally, he doesn't make anyone any better - in fact, he brings the team down with his turnovers with his bad passing, and horrific dribbling. Yes, he has physical talent, but no heart to apply them to pressure.

Let's quit with the 'revisionist history'
about DA and the great Suns teams of the past few years. They could never beat San Antonio, even though they had more talent. Now finally, the rest of the West have caught up to them, some have even lapped them (see Utah, NO, and especially the Lakers).

Someone said it best in another thread, we need to move Amare... and thus move in another direction.

Yes, there's no difference at all between this current team and the teams that didn't make it all the way a few years ago because of either injuries or suspensions. How completely asinine. This team doesn't even deserve to be compared to that one in the same sentence.

But you're right on the last part of your post, we do need to move Amare.

I was making a comparison to the team that began last year... after the debacle with the suspensions, the team was done. Marion was done. D'Antoni was done.

However, many still think that the Suns were the best team in the league all those years with Nash and D'Antoni. Yet, I don't remember seeing any appearences in the Finals. Did I miss it?

Whatever, that is why the game is played.

ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN IN SPORTS.

anything can happen. can is the operative word.

It's like Andrew can post less than 10 pointless threads a day.

Andrew can just admit that the suns aren't winning a championship this year.

Andrew can accept that shaq will be a part of a losing team.

Andrew can stop padding his post count with stupid posts.

Andrew can...... (anyone else care to fill in the blank?)

They were never the best, but we were top 2-3 with a chance to win. That's more than we've had since Kerr raped the team. Miami wasn't the best team in the league in 06 either.

Actually I take it back, the Suns may have been the best team in 06-07, but we'll never know that.

And there's no way you can think we've improved in the slightest over the team that began in 2007. The team with Marion and D'antoni had problems, but they didn't have 30 point deficits by half time. We may or may not have been done then, but we sure are done now.

Are you sure about that? i know the D'antoni Suns was down by over 30 to the visiting pistons by 3rd quarter last season and eventually lost by 30 points.
It is obvious that Porter is a mediocre coach at best, i have always thought it is the players intelligence and skill that has been winning the game for the Suns and not necessarily the coaching. Porter seem to get confounded when playing a good team.

it works both ways,
the players have to do what their coach tells them to do,

in the suns case,
the players are mainly for offense, run and gun plays,
the coach wants it to be defensive oriented and half court set plays.

so imo,
the suns should decide now to hire another coach that fits the team's players
or
trade for players that fit the coach's way of coaching.

I said the team with Marion and D'antoni. :)

They were in a transitional phase of trying to fit Shaq in during that time, but they seemed to get their act together towards the end of the season. Even with the first round loss, I'd still rather take my chances with that D'antoni run team than this Porter team.
