Who's the best QB in the NFC? It may be blind homerism, but I can't think of a single NFC QB I'd take ahead of Leinart.

Romo? Maybe if he didn't hold for the kicker.
Bulger's best years are probably behind him, though he should stay productive for a couple more seasons.
Hasselback is overrated.
Favre is old.
Smith will probably be fairly good, but not better than Leinart.

Thoughts?

Leinart has a shot at being very good. I hope he hangs out with John Lott this offseason, cause he needs to improve his strength so he can take the beating of an NFL QB.

But yes I agree, he has been pretty damn good for a rook...

2. Matt Hasselback
3. Marc Bulger
4. Donovan McNabb
5. Eli Manning
6. Jon Kitna
7. Tono Romo
8. Jake Delhomme
9. Brett Favre
10. Matt Leinart
11. Michael Vick
12. Rex Grossman
13. Chris Simms
14. Jason Campbell
15. Alex Smith
16. Tavaris Jackson

All this is a testament to how bad the quarterback situation really is in the NFC right now. What a bunch of losers. Matt's ranking will rise as he matures, but it's way too early to put him anywhere but in the middle. There are a lot of guys who've taken their teams to the playoffs, and #7 hasn't done anything yet.

I think Hasselbeck would be in the discussion with decent receivers.

:billthecat: Confusing when seeing your signature line...

Oh, and I thought I would add that Eli had a craptastic year and actually regressed this season. But looks as though you have finally seen the light re: Vick.

I think there are so many question marks and young guys in the NFC at Quarterback that it's hard to put any kind of meaningful ranking on them.

Who can say that one or another is better among Chris Simms, Tavaris Jackson, Matt Leinart, Eli Manning, Jason Campbell, Rex Grossman, Tony Romo, and Alex Smith? That's half the conference. I think that you can rate the other half, since they're pretty much known quantities, but it's a little early to draw conclusions on all these guys.

I'm scared that Matt's shoulder problem could be a continous problem!
Hope not, because the kid can be VERY SPECIAL!!!!!!!!

Wasn't his first shoulder injury his right, and this one his left? Obviously the left one is more of a concern. I don't think it points to a habitual shoulder problem, so much as being somewhat injury prone (though hopefully just freak incidents).

Leinart injured a shoulder twice this past season. However iirc, it was not the same shoulder each time.

Also, I think it's pretty clear that if that Week 17 game was at all meaningful, Leinart could have played. He's a tough kid. But there was no reason to put him in there against one of the best defenses in the NFL and two great pass rushers for a game whose only stakes were draft position.

Yes, I recall them saying that pulling him was purely precautionary and that they are following up in Feb just to be safe.

From the AZ Republic.

leinart missed the final game of the season after suffering a sprained left shoulder the week before. The shoulder is improving, he said, and he should be able to resume workouts in a few weeks. He anticipates being "more than ready" by spring.

Not too much to worry about at this point.

Both were his right, or non throwing shoulder -- the Republic got it wrong

How long have you been a Cardinal fan?

With our boys there's always a reason to worry. Military Service,NY Jets, Hip, Rodeo, car wreck, domestic problems, telephone answering, wrestling with friends, microfracture surgery.........
