Additionally, the Bears game was Who are football insiders, anyway?

Mathieu almost never lines up inside of the tackle box — the traditional position for safeties. When Jefferson and Johnson are playing so many snaps, it's difficult to argue that Mathieu is spending most of his time in a traditional safety role or position.
True, yesterday I heard on 98.7 that he played 62% of his snaps at slot corner, i believe they were pulling that from PFF

I think that James Bettcher is doing a very good job---but the defense at times seems far too confused---seems like about 5-7 plays a game---and it seems the defense gets burned on those plays more often than not---you can see it in the defensive line, some of them standing up too long and looking around and then sometimes never even getting into a three point stance or never getting set.

The coverage glitches happen to every team, especially when players bite on fakes. But, it seems that the coverage glitches have also coincided frequently with the confusion up front.

I will also add how disappointing it was to see Bettcher go to the three man rush on two consecutive third down plays, both of which resulted in easy, non-pressure throws and simple conversions by Bradford. Yes, Bettcher tried to disguise the coverage as he threatened the inside blitzes---but it meant that the ILBers got late starts on the zone drops and left some sizeable windows in the 8-12 yard range to throw into.

However, what Bettcher is doing---he is trying to wean the defense off having to blitz so often---and thus there are times when this has helped the coverage and there are times when the has helped the opposing QB, WRS and RBs in giving them a little more time to find the open man.

All in all, what Bettcher is doing with regard to the big picture is smart and is the logical next step.

Nope. I don't watch the games. Great way to argue a point there. Come on man.

Who are football insiders? Who is K9? Who is dreamcastrocks? We are all fans of the game and they went in-depth to show Mathieu in that STL game playing everything from Corner to Safety and you dismiss because you have never heard of them before???

Now you want to argue whether it was a 1 deep or 3 deep zone instead of arguing Mathieu's role on the play? Isn't that exactly what you did when I said he was our best tackler? Corners are not asked to be in that role in almost all instances in which you see it.

You can dismiss what Mathieu does if you want to, but you are on the outside looking in if you think he is strictly a corner. I don't think most fans, insiders, or members of the Cardinals organization would agree with you.

Jeez, I get up this morning, check ASFN, and the first 2 threads are calling out BA & Bettcher. Bulletin: the Cards are 12-2, kids! Wake up and realize it. That's not Jim Tomsula or Mike Pettine out there roaming the sidelines, giving the same old excuses in their post-game presser. These guys are winning week in and week out, and just laid a 40-burger, on the road, on the east coast (where we NEVER used to win), on a team playing for a playoff spot. Are we THAT spoiled already that we have to second-guess our coaches at this point? Wow.

Apparently so.

I think every DC we've had has had multiple threads dedicated to their respective shortcomings. I bet the Saints would love to have our defensive "issues."

We've discussed ad nauseum the lack of talent in many key areas on the defensive side of the ball, namely pass rusher and a suitable inside linebacker. Really, the only position in which there's an abundance of talent is the secondary. So which is it? Poor coaching on defense or talent deficiency?

Simply from that perspective, Bettcher has done a fine job in using the pieces he has to create a legit Top-10 defense. It's Keim's job to provide Bettcher with better pieces to work with and stop neglecting obvious glaring needs, such as OLB.

This was precisely the point I was going to make.

Right back at you. Some people are never happy. Enjoy that the Cardinals are good and are still a legitimate SB contender.

I am over the moon with our season, but I'll never blather on and refuse to ever say anything negative ever ever ever. That's just silly and makes for a terribly boring message board. Just because I don't think Bettcher's doing well and that Massie makes too many mistakes doesn't mean I'm not happy. Get off your ridiculous high horse.

I guess the best point has been hashed out then.

we have a fantastic defense,...top ten all the way...

and with some experience and a few personnel improvements we will only get better. I can live with that.

Please. We have a top 10 defense and 4th in forced fumbles and 3rd in INTs. We're top 10 in scoring against.

It only seems bad to us because when we watch the games we care so much, so every yard gained is like a dagger.

Thank God our team has the mental fortitude not to crumble as so many of you do every week.

Bettcher has done a great job in his first year, with, in my opinion, limited talent on the front 7. Phenomenal.

We're 12-2, stop bitching, it's getting old.

(edit: the hand wringing and panty twisting was cute when we were JV caliber, not so cute now. Enjoy the ride)

Darkside, you have to understand some people are never happy unless they have something to complain about. For some if you gave them $999,999.00 they would complain that it was a dollar short of a million. This is just how some people are. They find satisfaction if trying to find the smallest thing to complain about until it becomes the focal point of their day. We just happen to have some folks here who lean that way. I personally think it's in their genes. Maybe some just don't have a happy or fulfilling life. For some it's what they enjoy doing. Some just need to be right all the time or can't seem to understand it when folks do not agree with them.

I know some people here will flame me for this but you know what I do not care. It's Christmas and all is good. I have a terrific wife and a wonderful family and that is what is important to me. This is just a board where we all support the Arizona Cardinal football team. To everyone here on ASFN a very

Oh goody, a massive, uncalled-for insult followed by good cheer, as if that makes it any less insulting. So, screw you for the idiotic insult and the awful poster bashing--you don't have to sing the Happy Happy Joy Joy song on a continuous loop to be a fulfilled person--and also, Merry Christmas to you as well :)

Oh and also, it's a message board, and this is a discussion. What the hell else is there to talk about on a Tues or Wed while they're off and we wait for a game? I don't see uncalled for or incessant bashing for the hell of it, but discussion of viewpoints with a portion of the team. Don't read it and move along if you don't want to participate. Oh and Marry damn Christmas to you all too. :D

The only insult I see in here is from you. You know you crossed the line and are getting a break.

Chris, you might want to look at Cardpa who wrote an entire post ripping other posters to shreds, telling them finding something to complain about is the only thing that fulfills them
And Being miserable must be in their genes.

Would send this as a PM, but I can't figure out how to do anything on this site with my phone except post replies.
