Just so you know Stout's post didn't bother me. I took it with a grain of salt. I would appreciate you lifting his ban.

Stout was banned for one day for directly attacking another poster. That was it.

Darkside is a week for multiple forum violations.

Honestly I should be banning a bunch of you for publicly questioning a mod but as it is Christmas eve I will let it slide up to now.

Chris, you might want to look at Cardpa who wrote an entire post ripping other posters to shreds, telling them finding something to complain about is the only thing that fulfills them
And Being miserable must be in their genes.

Would send this as a PM, but I can't figure out how to do anything on this site with my phone except post replies.

I appreciate you acknowledging it should have been a PM.

I read Cardpa's post multiple times and while borderline, it didn't deserve the response it got.

Since Stout is a long time poster, I gave him a 24 hour cool off to de-escalate the situation and to make sure he didn't miss any Cardinals games.

Darkside would have gotten 1 day as well until his second post, which basically violated multiple rules. So he gets a week.

Rule #2 of the site, which has been in place since the inception of the site. You agree to these rules by posting here. I would recommend you go read them at the top of this forum.

2) Moderators' decisions are final. Our moderators are all unpaid volunteers who are looking out for the best interests of our members. We want to help each and every member get the best experience possible on our board, but there will always be individuals who choose to break the rules and be banned. Moderators' decisions are final. THERE IS NO PUBLIC DISCUSSION ON THIS.

If you have a problem with a decision a moderator makes, please PM (private message) them and discuss with them the issue. We will be glad to discuss it with you there, but starting threads about it is not allowed. These threads will be closed or deleted.

Not only are moderators’ decisions final but so are their opinions as to what is offensive, inflammatory, a personal attack, profanity or just plain poor taste. Although we will make every effort to look into issues; we will not attempt to research a conflict beyond what we have seen. Otherwise you get into a circular round of "but did you go back and look at what he said to me last week".

Those folks who are unlucky enough to get a temporary ban should take their temporary ban like a man / woman and move on.

Losing HB was a huge blow. I'm really, really, really concerned about our response on defense. He is without a shadow of a doubt our second best defensive player. I can easily see this as a blow we cannot overcome defensively.

Chris strictly enforces this rule as I should well know because I got banned for violating it so now I take it seriously too. We PM about it and came to a understanding. I appreciated his candor. I may not have liked it but I respected it.

I have the utmost respect for Chris Sanders and the thankless job he does as moderator. We had a misunderstanding at one point but he handled it with class and integrity. So---a Merry Christmas to you, Chris. Thank you for keeping things real and honest.

Good point. There's the old adage- "one player doesn't make team" but losing HB perhaps could be an exception to this?

Without him how predictable or unpredictable will the Defense now be? For how long? How painful will the transition be now that some if not all in the D backfield could have more responsibilities than before?

I think given his experience and age, Bettcher has done a good if not great job. What I am considering is this improvement or stability is also a result of continuity. Correct me if I am wrong, but the foundation of the schemes has been the same with all three DCs to an extent. Meaning, players have had time to improve on what is in place and the Front Office has been able to attain players to fit a scheme which is not that much in flux as would be the case in changing DCs with completely different schemes... I know the schemes are not totally the same and each DC did different things but they have all been doing them from basically the same formations and terminology that define our style of defense

Oh and also, it's a message board, and this is a discussion. What the hell else is there to talk about on a Tues or Wed while they're off and we wait for a game? I don't see uncalled for or incessant bashing for the hell of it, but discussion of viewpoints with a portion of the team. Don't read it and move along if you don't want to participate. Oh and Marry damn Christmas to you all too. :D

Thank you. This x 1000. It's Christmas, so I'll say no more on this thread :)

I would argue that Bettcher's defense is more reactive and puts players in positions where they have to win matchups. Very few overload blitzes, and gap blitzes where guys have to beat someone to get the pressure. I think the stats are skewed, and that our defense is dependent on staying rested , and playing with the lead. I would like to see a defense that physically tried to dominate other teams but we are more finesse.

I see a big difference between our defense and Seattle's, Carolina's, New England's and Denver's.
