Rumblings that JJ is telling people in ATL that he doesn't want to play there.

Why would Bickley say this if it didn't have a sliver of truth?

??

Geez, is JJ pulling a Ricky Williams? Who does he want to play for?

oh please please suns fans....put your hand together and pray that this falls through. I repeat: trade Marion or JJ next year, but at least go for one run at the whole thing..............

Believe me, as a media man myself, I can tell you that unless he wants to piss every shred of his credibility down the drain, Bickley wouldn't make a comment like this unless it had some level of truth behind it.

Now I'm beginning to wonder if this is the "snag" in the deal, and Johnson's realizing the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

It pisses me off when they don't expand on comments they make. They just make flip statements, then begin listening to recorded phone calls.

If we matched the offer from Atlanta we will not be able to trade JJ. Since the upfront payment and the bonus

I think Bickley said ten minutes ago, that he didn't buy the rumors about JJ telling people in ATL that he didn't want to be there.

Maybe JJ will break down and take the 6yr $60 million offer to stay with the Suns.

Perhaps Nash talked some sense into him...

Although I agree with Bickley, I don't buy these rumors. We haven't been that lucky lately.

id say 6 yr 75 million is reasonable to everybody......JJ gets an extra year (although less yearly wage, but a HUGE payment upfront) suns keep their core and Sarver doesnt look like an a$$ for cow-towing to one player.......GET R DONE SUNS

So JJ was using Atlanta purely to squeeze as much money out of the Suns as possible--and he was saying he wanted to go to Atlanta publicly so the Hawks would keep the offer on the table, and he was relying on Sarver's word that he'd match any offer. No wonder JJ's representative yesterday said he's mad at Sarver for lying--that "lie" just might force JJ to NBA hell for 5 years.

EDIT: Unless, of course, there's nothing to these rumblings.

As my previous posts attest im a big fan of dealing the matrix next year. and if we can get a deal like diaw, some first round picks and an expiring contract i would do it in a second......

That's why I say we match the damn deal anyways. Who cares what JJ thinks he does or doesn't want. We could get a lot for Marion next summer, and if JJ truly becomes a problem next year, I have no problem trading him next summer either. I don't think too many people are going to be upset next year when we are winning...winning solves everything it seems.

If the rumblings are accurate, can anyone actually feel bad for Johnson? He knew what he was getting himself in to when he signed the offer sheet, and despite Sarver promising to match anything, when you make that proverbial bed, sometimes you have to sleep in it.

Like JJ said, it's all about business, and sometimes in business you get burned. JJ was trying to grab as much cash as possible, and the Suns were trying to save some by publicly telling teams they'd match any offer, so don't bother.

If he would have been able to wait one more year, he could have been an unrestricted free agent, right?

Do we really know if JJ did indeed sign Atlanta's offer sheet? I have not heard it said as a fact.

Yeah, and if he signs the one year tender, we can't trade him for the duration of the contract (although we'd have his Bird rights, and be able to enter into a sign and trade after the contract expires next summer (I think)).

Technically I think he has to sign our offer, then we would trade him. Hence sign and trade. However I too have not heard anything about whether or not he's signed it.

Exactly, that's why I think all the cards are on the table.

why do blame all this on Sarver? Both parties are equally at fault on this one.
