Sly Fly said:Rumblings that JJ is telling people in ATL that he doesn't want to play there.
Why would Bickley say this if it didn't have a sliver of truth?
??
Arizona's Finest said:oh please please suns fans....put your hand together and pray that this falls through. I repeat: trade Marion or JJ next year, but at least go for one run at the whole thing..............
Snake said:Believe me, as a media man myself, I can tell you that unless he wants to piss every shred of his credibility down the drain, Bickley wouldn't make a comment like this unless it had some level of truth behind it.
Now I'm beginning to wonder if this is the "snag" in the deal, and Johnson's realizing the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

Kolobotomy said:So JJ was using Atlanta purely to squeeze as much money out of the Suns as possible--and he was saying he wanted to go to Atlanta publicly so the Hawks would keep the offer on the table, and he was relying on Sarver's word that he'd match any offer. No wonder JJ's representative yesterday said he's mad at Sarver for lying--that "lie" just might force JJ to NBA hell for 5 years.
EDIT: Unless, of course, there's nothing to these rumblings.
Snake said:If the rumblings are accurate, can anyone actually feel bad for Johnson? He knew what he was getting himself in to when he signed the offer sheet, and despite Sarver promising to match anything, when you make that proverbial bed, sometimes you have to sleep in it.
Kolobotomy said:Like JJ said, it's all about business, and sometimes in business you get burned. JJ was trying to grab as much cash as possible, and the Suns were trying to save some by publicly telling teams they'd match any offer, so don't bother.[/QUOTE
If he would have been able to wait one more year, he could have been an unrestricted free agent, right?

Yeah, and if he signs the one year tender, we can't trade him for the duration of the contract (although we'd have his Bird rights, and be able to enter into a sign and trade after the contract expires next summer (I think)).
Mainstreet said:Do we really know if JJ did indeed sign Atlanta's offer sheet? I have not heard it said as a fact.
RedStripe27 said:Technically I think he has to sign our offer, then we would trade him. Hence sign and trade. However I too have not heard anything about whether or not he's signed it.
