Well, certainly isn't Butler. I guess we'll have to trust Whis on this one.

The title of the thread..."KTAR sources reporting Davis will be the new DC". I signed up with KTAR Sports text alerts a while back.

On the surface, I don't like it. I know Whis brought him in, but he was part of Clancy's defense too. I know that's knee-jerk and a little unfair, so I won't bash the hiring. I want to know a hell of a lot more about the guy. I've heard his history isn't sparkling, but that he had a lot of mitigating factors. What kind of defense will he run? What will it mean for the players we have? Who do we need to re-sign and who do we need to let go? What positions do we need to focus on signing in FA and drafting?

One thing we know for sure: this will be an exciting offseson.

I have a feeling Haley leaving for KC had something to do with the firing of Clancy. I wonder if Whiz was worried that Haley would hire Davis as his DC. Hmmmm

Man, I hope it's a 3-4. I just think you can do so much more, have such better flexibility, out of that defense. And hopefully it's not a hybrid defense either.

I don't like where this is all going, seems like the super bowl is being used to advance the coach's agenda.

Not to mention the first 14pt quarter will bring out the media.

I was asking about Davis last season. The linebacker play to me had greatly improved and so I was trying to check him out.

Based on the improvement in Pace and Hayes and that Davis was on board when Atlanta converted to the 3-4 I like the selection.

We all had questions about Whiz when he was hired too. That seems to have worked out.

I was really hoping for Butler but at least Davis has been here and the defense should be able to build upon how they ended the year (except for the last 88 yards). I wonder if this hire is something that Dansby would consider during contract negotiations with him more than likely getting the play calling duties, assuming they do go with a 3-4 defense, and his relationship with Davis?

That statement in itself should be looked at an re-thought.

IMO, I think the guy that took the team to the Superbowl should be allowed to advance his agenda.....once again JMHO
