Doesn't make sense......we wouldn't waste our #33 pick on Henson. If we wanted a QB we'd use the #3 pick from the get go.

This whole scenario is very very confusing.

While he was talking up Blake over here, other there they were checking the salary cap ramifications to cut his ass

Ryanwb,

But why bother to talk him up if they were going to cut him? It would take all of five minutes for them to determine what the cap hit was?

There is more to this than meets the eye?

MJ just announced on KDUS that Blake has been cut.

MJ says cap hit it $1,000,000.00. Would have been $500,000.00 after June 1, but then would have been another $500,000.00 on next years cap.

Did you catch that possible theory floated by Bob Kemp?

Blake bashed Billick pretty hard and Green and Billick are good buddies and that may have been part of the reason?

Why wouldn't we just trade our #1 next year for Henson. Let him and Josh battle it out and draft Fitz. That could be very interesting. Lets score some points. Can anyone say Jeff George?

I don't know about that. Taking Henson at #33 is way more appealing to me than taking either guy at #3.

Trade down for Jackson...

muahahahaaaa....

The only reason using the second round pick on Henson would be a waste is if he hadn't yet signed with Houston but we trade for him anyway, and he refuses to sign before the draft with us. Otherwise, it seems like a pretty good value. Then we can use our #3 pick for whoever's left for us (ie: Fitz, Williams, or trade down a few spots and get a DE or CB). That would make a lot of sense to me if we lock up Henson with the second round pick.

Why does everyone want us to go find another quarterback? We have our quarterback, his name is Josh McCown. And he is a winner, by the way.

In my opinion this should increase the asking price for the top 3 picks if anyone outside the top 3 wants to move up and get a QB........this still could be part of a smokescreen so we can get a better picks in return if we trade down.... maybe we sign a free agent QB instead....

He is a winner?? Based on what? 4 games....

The not-so-immaculate reception by LJ Shelton??

Now that would be interesting given Green's history with George.

Gotta admit this is a hell of a lot more exciting than wondering if Mac will change the defensive signals this year or not.

Yeah, a winner of 1/3 of his games.

Who's excited for another 5-11 season?

I agree that McCown isn't our "future" based on the Minnesota play, but his mistakes are due to youth and inexperience. What's Blake's excuse?

...or maybe we'll get Dan Marino! He needs a job, right? Jeff George is not going to play football in the NFL again, IMO--for green or anybody.

Nobody is defending Blake and nobody is discounting McCown, atleast I am not. Just don't understand how you can call McCown a winner after a few games and 1 desperation win

Here we go again...

Fine, his first starts didn't lead to undefeated starts. But did he improve? There is NO WAY you can answer no to that. No way. He was growing right before our eyes in those games.

So the question is, can he continue to improve? Has he just scratched the surface or is what we see now what we get?

I believe he has just scratched the surface...but unless Green feels the same way....

I never said he was a winner, you quoted someone else. First, it's obvious McCown's upside is better than Blake and he's probably better than Blake right now. I want to draft a QB, let him sit for a year in which McCown hopefully plays well, then either trade him or keep him as a backup. You never know, with Green's coaching experience and background, McCown could have a tremendous year and be very tradeable.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only way we'd be hearing about the Cards reaching an agreement to trade #33 to Houston for Henson is if we'd heard FIRST that Houston had reached a contractual agreement with Henson.

They have to sign him FIRST and then we trade.

Right?

I'm with ya on the Blake jersey! :( Oh well, at least mine was a replica that I got on eBay for $45.00.

The "Leon" they are referring to is the guy on the Budweiser commercials who blames his teammates for everything.

Obvisouly the Cards must like what they have in McCown and think they can either draft Eli or Ben or pick up a solid veteran FA on the cheap to back up McCown. In Chris Mortensen's chat today talked about how much he heard the Cards liked McCown...
