I picked up a bottle of Basil Hayden Toast. It's really good.

Okay, serious question.
When I went to the tasting they had droppers of water, apparently to add a drop or two and that somehow magically changes things or something.

Here's my question: When, if ever, is it appropriate to use ice?
the drops of water open up the aromas and kind of give it some air.

As for ice, I personally don’t use it because I don’t want my bourbon watered down. But that’s the beauty of bourbon, there’s room for every taste and preference. You do you.

My neighbor came over with this the other day and I got to say it’s fantastic… It’s the highest price point bourbon I’ve ever had and I freaking loved it but I would never buy it myself. Can’t justify the price tag.

Funny, I came back to this thread for the sole purpose of saying I scored a bottle of Stagg A23, which is near impossible to find up here. It’s good but it’s like drinking a flamethrower before getting to taste it. 130 proof!

I made way too many grilled chicken thighs and called him and asked him if he’d like some…. He said “hell yea bro” an hour later, he was over with all these bourbons letting me try. We sat and sipped the blood oath. He gave me two 3 finger pours. As well as a pour of the other 2. SCORE!

I don’t know which one he gave me. He brought it over in a mini bottle that he funneled into. But I wasn’t complaining either way.

I had a friend over, and I don't have but just one out two whiskeys on hand. I told him, "this will be the best whisky you will ever have!" He said that was good, really smooth. I said that's because it's Tequila! He gave me McAllen Double Cask, and that was good!

Wow, I need to learn to make better friends. You probably spend $20 max on some chicken thighs and he gave you $100s in liquor.

I wonder if that is cheaper or more expensive than the whole marriage, staying together, buying a big house in Colorado plan. :D
