A) 8 of the 12 playoff team HC are defensive-minded

B) I'd dispute this simply based on the team's (players, coaches and FO) support of Bowles couple with his being very articulate. I'm not sure where you were coming from with that one. He speaks better than most coaches.

It's the whisper quiet aspect of his voice. I think that's what he's getting at. Most people tend to agree that a guy with a soft voice doesn't wow you in interviews. Most would also agree it would actually detract from everything else and be viewed as a negative trait.

It shouldn't hurt him, but it most likely has, and many people here hope that this viewpoint reigns supreme amongst those selecting new coaches and we get him back next year.

Last 4 Jets HCs were Defensive Coordinators first. I don't see them going in that direction again. Bears gripe is that Trestman was too soft and academic. Does Bowles demeanor fit in there. Falcons could be a landing spot for Bowles.

I don't suspect Ryan will be without a job next year. Could be a Falcon.

Looking on the bright side of no first round bye:
If the interviews do get scheduled, Quinn would be available to speak to the 49ers this week because the Seahawks have a bye in the first round of the playoffs while Bowles will have to wait until after Arizona faces the Panthers this weekend.

The Raiders also intend to ask for permission to interview Arizona defensive coordinator Todd Bowles.

The Falcons have interest in New England offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, sources said, as well as Denver offensive coordinator Adam Gase, and would also want to interview Bowles.

The Bears would like to land an established head coach if possible, sources said, after hiring a long line of first-time head coaches, though Bowles -- whose only experience as a pro head coach is of the interim variety -- is thought of highly there.

No raiders for Bowles:

Cardinals DC Todd Bowles to meet with 49ers in Santa Clara Friday. Raiders have been knocked off his list. 49ers-Teryl Austin meeting today.

If he goes to SF he can rot in football hell!!!

Yes regarding the legend---but---the Bears need to figure out how to turn Jay Cutler around and a guy like Mike Shanahan would be far better equipped to do that than Mike Singletary.
Why is that? Shanny is so over rated. I hope he gets hired somewhere!

If he gets a HC job, the Bears or Falcons would be great for him. He better not go to SF.

That would be an epic disaster and being that I live in Chicago and would have "front row seats" I would enjoy it immensely.

ME TOO! It's been fun as hell listening to the charade called the Chicago Bears.
Bowles will not get/take the Chicago job. Input from Arians probably be one reason.
Aside from that the Bears are going to hire the guy from KC for the GM (IMO)and he has ties with other candidates.. none with Bowles.

My gut feeling says Bowles will get his first HC gig in a few seasons when he becomes the Az. Cardinals HC .

Reports out of NY today indicate that Jets' consultant Charlie Casserly has Todd Bowles and Jim Mora Jr. at the top of his list.

The Bears want to restore the growl in their defense---and one would think that Bowles will be very much considered for their HC position, provided he have a persuasive offensive plan and input on what to do with or for Jake Cutler.

Some are saying that Jim Mora Jr. is the 49ers top choice---I think Russ has been all over this.

Does Russ like Jim Mora Jr as a coach? I am not a huge fan of him as a coach in the NFL or College Football.

Chicago's new GM ryan Pace will want to hire a parcells guy and I don't think Bowles comes from that tree. Look for another obscure hire in Chicago but this time on the defensive side. Bowles will be back in AZ

Why? He's spent his entire carrer with the Saints. Bowles is a Parcells guy, BTW. With the Jets, Cowboys, and Dolphins, I believe.
