Fans gave Turbo a warm welcome during warmups, and a tribute video played on the jumbotron in the first period. However, the cheers turned to jeers during a fight between Tanev and his former teammates, Shane Wright and Tye Kartye.

The Jets turned up the pressure in the second, with Kyle Connor's tying goal sending the game into overtime. Dylan Samberg’s wrist shot past Joey Daccord secured the overtime win for Winnipeg. With the loss, Seattle’s all-time record against the Jets now stands at 2-6-4, including a 1-2-3 mark at home.
