Bears send firsts this year and next. A third this year and Kyle Orton.

Bears get Jake Utler and a Denver 5th.

So 2 first round picks, a third and Orton for Cutler and 5th? I think the bears got taken for a ride.

No joke.

And then again people wonder why we value Boldin high around here... Someone is always willing to overpay.

I was actually hoping that Tampa would get him for some reason. I had given up on the Bears getting him.

Hester will not be able to catch a strong armed QB. Now that he is not a KO returner, they should get rid of him (if they can).

ESPN says the package is two 1st and Orton for Cutler and a 3rd. Who knows at this early juncture, but regardless I dont think they got taken at all considering they got a 25 year old pro bowl QB.

I would give up two firsts and a backup for a 25 year old pro bowl QB in a heartbeat.

Totally agree. Bottom line is, no good qb, no chance at any real success. Smart move by the Bears.

I wouldn't give up that much for one that is a primadonna who has Diabetes.

Yes, it appears that he will be able to play through and keep his diabetes under control, but his health has plenty of question marks and I didn't even really talk about his recent attitude.

Not a bad deal at all.

I'm disappointed for Orton, though. He finally seemed to turn the corner and put up the best season for a Bears QB in years and then gets traded to Denver. :(

You're letting emotions cloud your judgment and his diabetes doesn't affect his play.

Wow. Love that move for Chicago.

Now they need to get a legit WR.

NFC just got tougher

it will be interesting to see

things Cutler had in Denver that he wont in Chicago:

1. One of the best offensive minds in football. Setting aside the disaster that is Mike Shanahan the GM, Shanahan the coach is one of the best. Interesting to see how he does with Ron Turner.

2. Denver has always had pretty solid offensive personnel. Good running game regardless of who is back there and even in rebuilding the WR corp -- they had Eddie Royal and Brandon Marshall.

Just from a football perspective -- it will be very, very interesting to compare Orton's and Cutler's stats next year

Denver is just plain stupid. Fired Shanahan , traded Cutler. They must have a death wish. This may turn out to be the dumbest trade of a QB since Favre went from the Falcons to the Packers.

Cutler will be going home ( Indiana ) and the Bears have been playing without a QB for the last 20 years. Bear fans must be numb and/or giddy.

As it pretains to the Cards I dont like it. Cutler makes the Bears better right away and we play the Bears this year on the road.

On a more serious note..... The Bears got taken in this deal. Free agency is over so really they have no other choice but to trade for a top tier WR.

And the picks they gave to Denver are massive. It's like the Jeff George trade from Indy to Atlanta. Look how Indy turned around after those deals.

McDaniels will have a ton of flexibility in the next two drafts to make the team his own.

As for Cutler.... He is perfect for Chicago weather. His cannon arm might actually keep the ball straight in the wind. Now the question is who will catch the ball? A TE and a RB can only get you so far in the NFL. They need a tough minded WR for the tough minded fans and the even harsher football weather. Again..... If it is through trade.......Boldin makes the most sense. But they have nothing left to give really. lol

Will he really have flexability considering the #1 pick he got this year or their own pick will have to be used for a rookie QB most likely?

I dont think the #18 pick and if Cutler pans out a pick on 2010 at about the same spot massive. And it does not compare to the top 5 pick that Indy got in the George trade.

My brother's a huge Bears' fan, and he's ecstatic. He said that Erik Kramer was the best Bears QB of his lifetime before now. I had a tough time arguing. It will take a while to truly evaluate this trade, but I think both sides should be happy.
