This guy scares the hell out of me. The Gandy injury may be a real problem.

We can't leave this guy alone against anyone.

He sucked during his initial tenure here with Cards... we are in trouble from that side during playoffs unless we provide constant help

And we have yet to see that help since his intial start against the Vikes:bang:

I guess the only hope is the Cards are doing it on purpose holding that back for the playoffs but it makes no sense since it could get Warner hurt before the playoffs start.

Do agree though, we need to give him help.

Nothing on the FA market either. Forget a TE, use 6 OL or use Hightower and Wells as chippers.

We for sure need to give him help. Have the back chip or have the TE help. It kills me to watch Kurt take these terrible shots.

Sign on to the concern; two of Warners fumbles came from Bridges getting beat. At least on the second one he fell on it rather that trying to pick it up and run! What was he thinking? It was not like he was going to bust out some Chris Johnson moves and speed past the corner...

I tried to tell some of you that you were too excited about Bridges after the Minny game.

To be fair to Bridges, he has NEVER played LT before. Which is the most difficult of line positions to play. Thus, it's even more puzzling that he gets so little help.

He needs to drop on that fumble, not try and pick it up and run with it.

Agree. Dreaming about what could be or bellyaching about what should be won't do it -

The important thing is that we FIX IT!

(& - based on the Minny experience - we can).

Unlikely but I'll play. How about a steady diet of chips to the left then peel off the back for a quick screen. Do that enough and the DE will have to hesitate or a CB will need to come up opening up something in his zone.

If I'm the coach I look at a couple of guys that we have already this Sunday. Bridges will kill us in the playoffs. He appears to be a nice guy, but the goes no place once the coin drops.

The last thing you want to do now is weaken the rest of the chemistry of the line because one guy isn't cutting it.

He's a new addition, he's getting schooled, but he's playing left tackle in the NFL people.

He's alright, on more than one play he held his ground, just on a few plays the move the guy made worked well.

Quite a few times Warner had time, on a few plays not, he'll get better with more time.

Did you forget Gandy did the same thing?

Long is very good, he's the energizer bunny, it's not like I don't reallize we could be in much better shape at that position but for a backup it's alright and manageable.

More than anything else though they are NOT going to show what they're going to do in UNTIL the playoffs, so until then he'll get no help.

In the playoffs I expect he'll get tons of help but they are NOT going to show that now, only once they have to.

Agreed. Why is this not possible??

Bridges has started a lot of games in the NFL, including the playoffs. Keith has never played oline in a regular season game, much less the playoffs. That's why. As bad as Bridges was yesterday, I would be very reluctant to put someone that inexperienced out there, making changes at two positions. It would actually be better to put Keith at LT if he had any ability to play there.

I actually like Bridges' initial fan blocking setup better than Gandy's, for it's more sudden and more athletic...but, here's what he needs to do to improve from there:

(1) he needs to generate a more explosive hand punch in oder to thwart the DE's forward momentum;

(2) most importantly, while maintaining a good wide base for the sake of maintaining maximum balance, he MUST keep his feet chugging.

If you notice the times he get beat badly, his feet have stopped moving and he cannot counter the initial move by the DE.

Exactly, he's not that bad he's got technique problems more than anything which you can work on and you can help him out with schemes but again you're not going to show the schemes now with the division locked up.

The main thing is not to jack up the rest of the line by shuffling it now.

No matter how badly one guy plays it's still better to only have one hole, if you go shuffling the other guys then you got a cluster of problems all of a sudden from guys not knowing exactly where to be every time.

LOL wasn't he the second coming two weeks ago and the end of Gandy as a Card what a difference two weeks can make

I believe you are correct with this assumption. Whiz will be reluctant to tip any hand that he might be holding as we get ready for the playoffs. This is probably what we will see until then.

The guy has been in the league long enough to fix his technique problems. He just isn't a first string NFL tackle.
