Ooohhh, I wouldnt' say brilliant, but yeah, I liked it..

Okay, you got me on the "brilliant" part--but damn, I liked that show. Great premise. I've been catching re-runs on the sci-fi? channel (not sure--dvr'd)

Dark Angel was great, too.

That show was on 1992-1997. That's quite a while in TV time.

How'd I know you'd give me a hard time about that one.

Perhaps you'd like to give Chaplin a hard time for saying "Deadwood" when that's been on a few seasons, no?

it's my list, so back off, mmmm kay?

I'd also like to throw in the Adventures of Pete and Pete.

I miss old school Nickelodeon. That network was the bomb back in the day.

Part of being a know-it-all is making comments like that. I can't help it. I guess that rubs some people the wrong way and might be part of the reason my application for moderator was ignored.

36 episodes over three seasons is not very many (especially given the fact that it's cancelled).

Carnivale
During the American Great Depression in 1934, a great showdown between the forces of good and evil takes place, centered around hayseed Ben Hawkins and the sinister carnival with which he travels in the Midwest, and charismatic preacher Justin Crowe, who opens his arms to the migrant farmers arriving in California.
Moves pretty slow, but definitely worth watching if you can pay attention.

Wife and I loved this show. We were so pissed when it got cancelled.

On a flying cocoon
The Tick - especially the cartoon
Carnivale - I agree it started slow but after the episode "Babylon" it really got going (especially season 2)
Deadwood - I have no idea why HBO is cancelling this show seriously
Firefly - I wish I would've seen this while it was still on the air
The Lone Gunmen - They aren't dead dammit :indenial:

Dark Angel was great, too.

I started Dark Angel over the weekend after finishing Firefly/Serenity. I have watched the first disc and I must say that I am only mildly impressed.

Good eye candy, premise is ok, but hard to keep my attention.

I am not a quitter, I will watch the 2 seasons that I have on me.

Just purchased Smallville S5, Lost S2, Housewives S2 and Prison Break though, so it might get bumped.

Could the Chappelle Show be added in this discussion? If so it was a hell of a show for Seasons 1 and 2.

Haw many seasons did the original Star Trek run? It was relatively short-lived, right? If so, that definitely qualifies in my book.

I didn't even know that Carnivale was canceled. I liked that show. I tried to watch Deadwood, but I couldn't take it. I can swear with the best of them, but I felt like I needed a shower after every episode. In fact that's one thing that gets to me about HBO in general. On many of their shows the swearing, nudity, etc. is there simply because they are allowed to show it. A lot of the time it serves no purpose whatsoever.

If people then knew me well saw this post they would probably be laughing their asses off. :)

I love Freaks and Geeks, and until I started coming to this board recently I thought I was the only one who actually watched it. That was a great show.

I would concur with the post on Invasion as well. It started off slowly. In fact I thought I would give up on it at first, but I thought it grew stronger as the season went on.

I really like the way TV is going. I'm sure the HD has a lot to do with it, but they are making TV shows more like movies now. 10+ years ago a show like Lost would have probably looked very cheesy. The acting would have been so-so. However now these shows look and feel like big productions. I've enjoyed almost every new series I've watched so far this season. I hope most of them stay around.

It takes some getting used to, but the swearing on Deadwood adds to the extreme realism that permeates that show. Imagine Unforgiven over 3 years--grungy, dirty, but still full of politics and backstabbing. It's a brilliant show, and it's too bad that the swearing is turning you off. Many people are missing one of the best shows ever on television because they can't listen to the cursing.

I suppose if I truly believed that the people in Deadwood spoke like the characters in the show it might help. Despite the claims of the show's producer I don't believe people spoke like that though.

I actually watched a season and a half. However, once I got busy with work last year Deadwood got dropped.

I have to admit also that some of it had to do with how dirty and grungy the show is, but I got past that with Carnivale. By the way, Unforgiven is one of my favorite movies. It's definitely my favorite Western.

On a separate note, did Huff get canceled? I loved that show's first season. In between the first and second seasons I dropped Showtime because that was the only thing I ever watched on it. Unfortunately I just forgot to started up again when the second season of Huff began. I loved Blythe Danner's character as well as Oliver Platt's.
