I'm sure that most people on this board have written him off, but he is left handed (like Leinart) and I think that he's got one more little bit left in his star-crossed career.

Could be an interesting #3.

Should be cheap.

Brian St. Pierre is better than Chris Simms at this point.

based on what. 21 vs 22 starts....Matts 55.8% vs 58.1%....I don't see the big difference. Matt threw to Fitz and Boldin....Who did simms throw to?

Matt had been in the offense 3 years. That alone makes him better.

Simms had promise, then he had life-threatening injuries and literally doesn't belong on an NFL squad. He was HORRIBLE last year in Denver when he had to step in for an injured Orton. HORRIBLE.

I like the kid, but he just hasn't been the same.

Yup. If you think he is anywhere near decent than you couldn't have seen him play last year.

19 passes since coming back from injury. Amazing how little it takes to KNOW a QB is washed up.

As a backup and with Whis coaching him, I would certainly explore the possibilities. It isn't a priority but I'd rather have a lefty backing up a lefty if the talent is comparable to a right handed counterpart.

I was looking at the play chart from that San Diego game. Sacked on the first drive and coughed up the ball before he even attempted a pass. Same on the second drive.

Not sure what you're saying but I agree that he looked rusty for Denver. He may very well be done because of that freak injury but I would be hesitant to write him off unless he got a decent shot at playing.

Honestly, Simms has had multiple opportunities to step up and has never become even a decent QB. Any veteran we bring in we should bring in with the notion that they could possibly push for the starting job. I just don't see Simms as a guy who could do that.

Move along nothing to see here.
