Oliver Ross

DUDE! SERIOUSLY!

Just when I get that guy out of my head, seriously I forgot all about that bag of suck, and now all I can think of is the picture of him in a play were he had his back to the defensive during a passing play.

How can an offensive lineman end up turn around 180 degrees in ANY play let alone a pass play?

My lord he was terrible.

You could put D'Anthony Batiste, and Oliver Ross in a telephone booth (ugh, you younger people got a wikipedia that) and they would some how not be able to touch or block each other......the booth would some how explode and they would fall on their backs.....you know what they are used to.

The best thing I like is he said he will bring in a coaching style that will be easy for the QBs and WR to know were everyone should be lined up and the plays. Maybe Floyd will not screw up as many plays next year!

I am thrilled. An experienced coach who has a resume from the last year that blows my mind.

Crisis averted

I like it. I do hope we keep Horton as DC, and I'm curious to see how our staff fills out, but I like it.

"G'day Bruce!"

"Ah, hello Bruce."

"How are ya, Bruce?"

Yep and now the defense is mediocre again. Not to mention the offense still sucks. Terrific job, Steve and Michael.

Yep.

Any other organization seems to be able to do these things without the reprocusions we are seeing here.

Seriously, what the heck happened, how can you be that inept at keeping a guy that works in the same offense out of the loop.

Horton is not so different to be angry about just losing the job, there is something more at the root of it.

If getting Arians costs us Horton it becomes a HUGE risk. Like watching the 2000's Cardinals again risk.

That kind of football can produce an empty stadium in two years.

Not saying that will happen, I don't know what will happen, but it is a risk.

Tell me how losing Horton but keeping the studs we have on defense makes us a worse team. Were a Pro team with profession players paid to do their jobs. The new DC would get the same effort, hopefully better, if they learn to tackle and stop the rush.

I think this is a very good hire. The guy is experienced and was a potential coach of the year guy. He worked with some of the best and I am sure he will try to get his own horse in here soon.

Awesome. A joeshmo post. But don't you know the fans perception is always correct no matter what the stats etc show? :D

The job Ariens did as the stand in HC this year was amazing. Sure he had Luck but that team was a mess the year before and Luck was a rookie.

If Horton is retained then I'm very happy with the hire.

Why people don't want ex Steelers on this team amazes me. Probably the best run Organization over the past 40 years in the entire league.

Whiz helped get us to a SB but he sucks.

Horton, well now he is the next coming and I don't disagree but he is from the Steelers Org.

Haggans played well for us his entire time here.

Grimm started off strong and many here were afraid we would lose him to a HC spot.

Morey was always a strong contributor.

Spencer has done a fantastic job pretty much his entire tenure here.

Yes there were the Porter and Oliver Ross busts but I believe there has been more positive then bad.

I expect to see vastly improved QB play.

Oliver Ross was a free agent signed during Dennis Green watch. Whis kept him because he was just hired and needed somebody familiar with his system.

I am pretty excited about the hire. Somebody that knows how to develope QB. I do like his attitude about getting players ready to play no matter where they were drafted. He also understands that players have to buy in what they are preaching or he won't be very successful. Great job front office. Keep the momentum going into the offseason.

Irrelevant. Jurecki reported Horton wants out if he's not getting the job. One way or another he's gone.

Now what did mr arnold terminator say, oh yeah hasty la vista, baby! Don't care for those who are full of themselves to the point they can't appreciate a good paycheck.

Hopefully the next DC can stop the run gashing which became a habit!

and McCoy put Whis on his and McCoy was respected as a candidate, so to me it shows Whis can coach but he cannot direct the whole ship on a long trip lol. I like this hire of Arians a lot

Agreed. Whiz might be the second coming of Norv Turner unless he changes his ways and ditches his Pitt dependance.

Or he might be the opposite of Denny Green. Can coach, but can't pick players.

I was just on a Colts message board, overall the fans are disappointed he is leaving, but thought he did a good job coaching there and did a nice job learning as adapting on the way, but thought his play calling was suspect at times.

How about watching Crabtree torch the Cardinals secondary for a new career record every game? Horton aint perfect and apparently aint head coach material as of this time. If he demands to leave, show him the door

I like the hire. I think he will work well with Keim on getting the offense to be competitive. The players will like him and he is well respected in the league. Most important he really knows how to develop qbs.

It's 10:05 pm - nada about Arians agreeing to terms - on Card site yet.

10:14 pm UPDATE - NFLN now says "the Cards have made it official."

If he demands to leave there is nothing you can do, it is called quitting.

1. We don't know the whole story.

2. With all due respect, IMO, you are grasping at straws to prove a point with no merit. You being up Crabtree, I bring up the other 100 stats that show how good that defense was. Just look at the QB, ratings, and yards we held elite QB's to.

We had an inside linebacker with nine sacks. They one three games without any help, and I mean ANY help from the offense.

Not doubt, if this is just over not getting the job and that alone ? HUGE red flag, and he has to go.

Pure speculation here, but it doesn't seem like Horton. We will see.

Haven't even confirmed anything yet.....still good to debate it.

Good creds & very solid coach, but...

IMO it's not hard to be a successful coach when you have Rapistberger, Manning & Luck as your QBs. Lets see just how good he is with Moe, Larry & Curley that are on the Cards roster. Hopefully a young stud will soon be added.

And I believe its not hard to be a successful DC when you have Campbell, D Wash, and Peterson. I think the wailing and gnashing of teeth over the loss of Horton is overblown.
