After a grueling 16 hour drive from Dallas to Flagstaff, I attended 5 practices from Monday until Wednesday. While I was disappointed that the pads were not on or there wasn't much contact, I came away with several things from my visit.
1) Leinart is bigger, more focused and seems to be having fun competing with Kurt. Matt hit a few long ones to Breaston and I thought looked pretty good.

2) Kurt's accuracy is phenonminal!!! I lost count how many times he hit the trash cans set up in the corners of the endzones that simulated a fade route.

3) Early Doucet suprised me with his route running and quickness. Great hands!!! This guy was always the 2nd option at LSU but seems to have a great upside.

4) Steve Breaston suprised me with everything I saw from him. He definately looked better than last season at WR. He did start dropping several balls in
drills later in the week. He HAS the speed and it showed several times on bombs.

5) Ben Patrick is going to be a STUD!!!! Great hands and very good speed for a TE. The diving catch for a TD on Wednesday was spectacular.

6) Dockett looked sooooooo quick and will be better this season. Opposing QB's better watch out.

7) Leonard Pope is so huge, but doesn't appear to 100%. He looked very slow.

8) Fitz is a beast!!! Write it down folks, he WILL be better this season. This guy has a tremendous advantage with his size over every CB in the league and appears to be running better routes this season. I know people on this board love Q, but I think we have given the money to the right WR.

9) DRC shines one minute and looks like a rookie another. He had 2 tremendous picks on Monday for TD's, but seems to get scorched on double moves. This kid has the most speed I have seen on the Cards since the days of Roy Green. Cross your fingers!!!

10) Our LB'ers of Dansby, Hayes, Chike, LaBoy, Beisel and Haggans are going to be incredible. All of these guys showed great quickness in LB drills and will create some headaches for opposing offensive co-ordinators. Beisel appeared to be hurt and didn't practice. Chike is a physical freak.

Nice report! I am anxious to see how Fitz does this season. If he can make the transition from very good to elite I'll be a happy camper.

Apparently Early Doucet was nursing a hamstring Friday. I hope that guy can stay healthy.

A couple of notes about what I've been reading about camp thus far. Doucet shouldn't be that much of a surprise because he was a #2 in college. The guy ahead of him, Dwayne Bowe, is going to be a beast in the NFL. In his rookie season he almost had 1000 yds receiving and put up good numbers...in Kansas City!!!

The other is that, IMO, DRC is going to be a HOF player if he can develop some basic mental tools he wasn't taught in the small school. We're getting exactly what was advertised: a scorcher with enormous raw talent who needs some polish. Rookies routinely get beat on plays like double moves. When he starts picking things like that up, look out Loretta!

Yup. Look at his legs compared to Moreys calf area. BIG difference and Morey isnt even big.

You guys don't really care about #29's leg size do you? I've seen it mentioned more than once that his legs are skinny but a guy that's all about speed doesn't need big legs. He's not pulling a cart, he just has to be fast. Deion wasn't very big was he?

Sanders was a very solid 200 pounder when he ran at the combine before he was drafted, and two inches shorter then DRC so the weight was even more pronounced on Sanders.

Some post draft stuff I read said the same thing. Despite watching film for Bowe, Doucet would always stick out on film to scouts and coaches. I think this is a guy who will be productive and still has some room to get better while in the NFL.

Okay, the question still remains though. I like his 6' 1 1/2" height and 4.3 speed more than I'm worried about the appearance of his legs. If he's that tall with that speed, he could be a very good corner. I never liked the idea of having a guy that's 5' 8" going against 6+ footers.

I agree. Just think he can use some more weight to handle the stronger WR's in the NFL thats all. Coaches want him to add some weight as well. But they are asking him to do it right and slowly becuase they dont want him to add the weight at the expense of his speed and agility.

Thanks for the updates... Got to keep the excitement in check though. Remember Cards are the training camp champs for years. Everyone looks great in training camp including 3rd and 4th stringers as well as all undrafed rookies. They are all going to Hawaii based on training camp.

Show me the results when it matters on Sundays.
