Sources told ESPN that the Chicago Bulls, Miami Heat, Detroit Pistons and Portland Trail Blazers are among the many teams with whom Phoenix has exchanged trade scenarios regarding Amar'e Stoudemire, with the Bulls and Heat believed to be pursuing him the hardest at this early stage.

After meeting privately with Stoudemire, Steve Kerr acknowledged that the Suns have been taking "a lot of calls" on Stoudemire and told local reporters: "We're not playing to our capabilities, so that's the way it goes when that happens. I think we can still be good this year, but we also have to make sure we can sustain our success. The last five years, we've made a concerted effort to keep our talent around. We've built up a really big payroll. We've traded some first-round picks [to do that], some young assets, so we've got to keep that in mind, too."

To be honest, I kind of like the idea of Stoudemire and filler for Beasley and Marion. Marion has his limitations, and they can be crippling for a team with title aspirations. But let's face it, all the Suns want now is some guys who bring it every night and make the game enjoyable. Marion does that, and I'd guess that the last year has been appropriately humbling for him, so he might even be willing to sign an affordable extension. As for Beasley, who knows, but it would be a decent roll of the dice.

If the Suns had traded Amare for Shaq a year ago would they have a better record?

If Marion would agree to sign a reasonable extension it wouldn't be bad because I think Marion has learned. I'm not totally sold on Beasley but his stats aren't bad. However, the Suns need to figure out a scenario where they get a young PG with talent out of a trade.

The trade last year was a longshot gamble to win a title. It didn't work. So in hindsight, sure, it might have been better to keep Stoudemire instead, especially if it might have encouraged The Real Diaw to show up again. But I think an O'Neal/Diaw/Marion/Nash core would have even less of shot at the championship than the O'Neal/Stoudemire/Richardson/Nash one. The difference is that now the goals have changed. Any big gamble has a big potential downside, and that's what we're seeing now.

I still don't think there is a fair talent swap out there for Amare, I say we keep him.

Sarver and Kerr will not deal with a western team in playoff race. Period.

That's a deal I could live with. (LaFrentz in for filler) If Oden is of any real potential, Portland would profit from it too, as Amare has an operation range much larger than Aldridge.

Oden/Amare/Outlaw/Roy/Blake + Prsybilla/Batum/Rodridgues that's some real power.

Aldridge/Bayless/Rudy/JRich/LB as the core is not balanced yet but we might get good value for LB and JRich.

Bulls doesnt want to part ways with Deng yet they want Stoudemire...

stingy ba$tards! you cant have your cake and eat it too.

No deals with Bulls unless it involves Deng, expiring and a draft pick.

So Deng + Gooden + Noah + 2010 draft pick top ten protected. IS FAIR.

Considering, they get their missing piece and still have enough fire power.
Rose + Gordon + Nocioni + Thomas + Stoudemire
with Hinrich coming off the bench...

geez.

Or swap Noah with Thomas... (Thomas has been playing well since starting and playing 30+ minutes)

So Bulls run a lineup of... Rose + Gordon + Nocioni + Stoudemire + Noah... with Hinrich off the bench.

You mean like sending them a descent PF and TWO UNPROTECTED first round picks for NOTHING!!!!!

Well at least we know the Suns are forbidden by rule to trade away any more #1's.

I have live with either of those since I think Deng is not really that good, but Paxson loves him.

I know the rule about consecutive years in the CBA but I never thought the Suns of all teams would be protected against themselves. I always thought teams that fell into this category were terribly mismanaged... Hmm.
