Love has championship experience that can’t be underestimated. He’s better than Ish at literally everything even at this stage of his career
His numbers looked okay so I read up a little on him and it appears Love is being bought out because of recurring back problems, an injured thumb, horrible defense plus he'd been loyal in the past but now wanted out because of declining PT. I'd guess his rebounds make his defense look better on paper.

I hope the Suns can get Kevin Love or another buyout that fills a need if one becomes available. Still have concerns at FC and point guard.

I am not really concerned about pg. We have a number of offense initiators: Paul, Booker, Payne, KD, and even Okogie. All of those guys are capable of bringing the ball up the floor as well.

FC: Ayton, KD, Landale, Biz. I am not really worried about that group. I supposed an extra body there would be helpful.

This team is still loaded.

If Payne could stay healthy I would have less concern at point guard but I think FC is the bigger need.

I wish there was a junkyard dog kinda guy out there.

Basically… a Jae Crowder. I think we’re gonna have to get one of those in the off-season to round out this team.

If you want a guard, isn't Okogie that kind of player? We need a big one like that. Yes like Jae Crowder. Gotta wonder if Jae had just had it with Ayton and was ticked that the Suns resigned him.

Rumor is it’s Monty and Paul Crowder was fed up with.

The Ayton hate here is ridiculous

I will never understand the Ayton hate. I've lurked these boards for quite some time and it never made sense. I'm glad we kept him and he is a pivotal piece to the continued success of the team beyond the aging stars/superstars timeframe

It's not hate. It's frustration. It's frustrating watching half effort. Book has bad games, but he is pushing, trying. At least it's not an effort thing. I have such hopes for Ayton and he could be absolutely dominant, but sometimes it looks like he shows up half sauced.

And sometimes he is absolutley dominant and focused. We all know this. It is painfully obvious to everyone. I guess you are Ok with this? Pointing out the obvious is hate?

I have been the biggest Ayton backer over the years and have made the case for being patient with him as he develops. Well he has developed. He has the chops. He has the tool box. He can play dominant d. He has an arsenal of offensive tools. We have seen him as a dominant rebounder.

Honestly, what it looks like sometimes is that he comes up against a hard working center and says "aw, too much work tonight. Not feeling it" and dogs the game. Maybe he stayed up all night playing video games, or he is just sometimes lazy. I don't know. I am tempted to blame it on a generational thing but that would not be fair to hard working young players like Book, Mikal, Cam, Okogie, and many others.

I don't care if he has a bad game, that happens. But at least try.

Some days we get Wilt, and some days we get Joe Barry Carroll. I have been hoping we will increasingly get more of the latter than the former.

So Jae Crowder was so upset the Suns resigned Ayton he refused to play

Gotcha

I've heard multiple times that it was Monty but where did you get the Jae vs Paul story? I thought they were still friends from what little CP3 has said about it.

How in the world did you make that leap? JC wasn't talking about Jae in that post, not at all. It was solely to contest the idea that the negative posts about Ayton mean we all hate him, Crowder wasn't any part of this specific conversation that I can see.

Because he literally said

“Gotta wonder if Jae had just had it with Ayton and was ticked that the Suns resigned him.”

That’s why Crowder was holding out. That’s was the start of the conversation.

Ayton doesn't dictate how often he is incorporated into the offense. Personally I don't understand why he doesn't get around 18-20 attempts a game.
He is highly efficient when he gets the opportunities more than he isn't. He is pretty potent from beyond the paint as well and could easily avg 22-25 IMO but he hasn't consistently been given the looks.
He and Booker are the dynamic duo and they should've been treating him as a #2 option as opposed to a 3rd or even bailout.

Fair enough. And I agree it's a huge stretch to lay Jae's fate at DA's feet.

Sure he does. When he's fumbling entry passes and getting manhandled by whoever, that's his way of saying "if you want to win, go to someone else".

We are at our best when DA is aggressive, getting lift on his shots and fighting for position and rebounds. We are at our worst when he's not being aggressive and not getting lift on his shots and not fighting for position and rebounds and we still try to feed him.

The Heat are the leaders to sign Kevin Love.

I thought it was pretty well documented that Jae didn't want to become a 6th man in a contract year. Not sure where resigning Ayton had anything to do with his decision.

My understanding is Jae Crowder wanted a contract extension but he was no longer assured he would start or finish games.

But the stats say his hands are actually really good. Big men don’t have good hands. He only averages 1.9 turnovers a game. It’s part of the unrealistic expectations of him.

His effort can be 100% questioned at times but those games are getting fewer and far between.

It looks like the Suns are not going to sign Kevin Love per latest reports.

They still have the taxpayer MLE but it looks uncertain if they are going to use it unless a player is flying under the radar.

Welcome to the Suns forum. It's good to hear some diversity of opinion.
