Yeah, I might have given him 3 or 4 nights off post-break and tried to keep his per game minutes down around 30 or so but there's a reason nobody sits their stars for a month heading into the playoffs. He'd be out of game shape, physically and mentally - and IMO he'd be at greater risk of injury given that he'd be going full speed without a ramped-up training camp and preseason.

this.

and not only the above, but if a team is rolling, you don't just purposefully throw a huge monkey wrench into the end of the season to completely lose mojo. You want the team operating like a fine-tuned machine at the end of the year, not them coming out of the gates like pre-season.

Well actually I would have been in favor of benching him once we had the 1st seed locked up, which would probably been a couple more weeks, so I don't think it's that bad. At least we know he can't get a season ending injury this way.
You can't do that and have him be rusty come playoff time. Guys get used to each other with timing and things like that. I think you give him rest during games by reducing his minutes and possibly a game here or there. Other than that? You can't sit him. Plus, Paul is not the kind of player that will LET YOU sit him if he can go. Controlling his minutes is one of the best things you can do for him.

There's got to be some lightweight Kevlar Carbon fiber blend body suit we could get for CP3.
Chainmail would be too heavy and maybe against the rules.

Maybe we can steal Mando’s gift to Grogu for protection. Might even be a close fit size-wise.

you would have sat CP3 for the... entire last month of the season?

sorry, that's patently ridiculous. that's never happened with any player in the history of any sport trying to win a championship.

I would have to. It wasn’t to long ago even you were complaining about his work load.

You would have shut him down for 20+ games?!? That’s insane. Just because we didn’t like 36+ minutes per game doesn’t mean shutting him down is a good idea. To make that logically leap defies, welll . . . logic.

The idea of shutting down a healthy player for that amount of time and believing a team will just pick up where they left off in the playoffs is ludicrous. Not even Pop, the king of resting his stars, would’ve ever done that.

Ugh... ClutchSports has an article suggesting 3 players the Suns should look to sign to help cover for Paul. They list Schroeder, John Wall, and Eric Bledsoe. I wouldn't mind Schroeder or Wall but please no Bledsoe. I'd almost rather see the Morrii return than Bledsoe, almost. He's right there with them as far as being guys I'm ashamed were Suns but it's worse because I actually liked Bledsoe for a spell.

If Suns fans were willing to accept Dragic back it's not that much of a reach to accept Bledsoe back.

The hair salon excuse was a bit much though. :)

Their departures were very different. Neither left on good terms but Bledsoe helped torpedo an entire season by dogging it for 3 games and then asking out which was followed by a weak attempt to cover his ass by claiming he was at a hair salon.

Dragic made the "Me or IT" ultimatum and proceeded to still want out after IT was dealt. He claimed trust was gone with the front office and also complained about the Suns not playing his brother enough. Totally unprofessional but a bit more understandable given he was pushed out position here but we were in the playoff race when he made his demands.

Both can stay away as far as I'm concerned but Dragic's situation was a bit more understandable than Bledsoe, who wanted an extension with 2 full seasons left on his deal.

Dragic dogged it for half a season when we re-signed Nash in order to force a trade and then tore apart a team with his ego when it was finally playing well. I wouldn't want either of them back in an ideal world.

I want to win a championship though so I'd probably put up with either if signing them made the difference for us. I haven't watched Bledsoe much since he left us but I doubt he's what we need and Dragic is already off the table so I think we need to look elsewhere.

there's a difference in not wanting Paul to play 40+ minutes a night and flat out wanting him to sit for a month. If you can't see that, I don't know what to tell you.

not every post on the internet needs to be about winning points.

i wouldn't want Bledsoe back, but that's really because i think he'd be a terrible fit team wise. wall or Schroeder I'd definitely kick the tires on.

We are talking about Chris Paul.

He is the smartest player in the NBA. Our starting lineup has played 1000's of minutes together. I just don't buy the idea they would forget how to play with him sitting out for a month.

I mean, we started our 18 game win streak by game 5 after a couple months off. History shows it does not take long for this team to get into top form.

sorry. edit: I'll just say I strongly disagree with this and there's a reason we've literally never seen anything like it... with any player... in any sport... in history.

I'm not in a hurry to revisit the situation although I think IT was traded by Phoenix to appease Dragic. IIRC, Ryan McDonough later admitted he wished he had kept IT. The Celtics didn't do him any favors. Too bad IT doesn't have anything left in the tank because I think he deserved better.

He destroyed his body in that final season in Boston.

I'm not sure Bledsow is a step up from Holiday/Payne anymore. He's not the same player that left. Maybe a step up from Shame T.
I'd live with Shroodle but I don't like him.

Who said anything about forget? It's all about timing. QB's don't forget how to throw the ball and the receivers don't forget how to catch. However, we have seen time and time again where the connection between the two is off. It's like that in almost every sport. To sit him out for that long an expect no consequences is silly. That's why limiting his minutes would be so much better than sitting him for that long. It's just dumb.

Yeah sometimes it's a situation you have to deal with like it will be for us this season with CP3's injury, but no team would ever do it on purpose. And for good reason.

Tomas Satoransky agrees to a buyout with Spurs. It looks like he is headed to the Wizards.

I hope the Suns gave it a thought.

Not a big fan of Schroder. Heard he is a head case and sort of a prick. Eric Gordon would be great.

I think with regards to the Utah game that our bench is too thin when Cam Johnson starts, so I think maybe Torrey Craig should start the next game, or even Holiday, and let Cam be the punch from the bench, and obviously play big minutes in any crunch time.

His attitude doesn't seem like a good Monty fit that's for sure. I think part of what has made this team good is the buying into the culture and the chemistry.
