I think they should bring in Isiah and trade for Ricky Davis to promote tanking. (Ricky has done it successfully in Cleveland and Miami). And to be sure that this endeavor is successful, they should bring in Isiah as a player and Davis as the coach.

LOL...to ensure success we should also trade Amare for Kwame, we can't leave anything to chance.

Then we trade Kwame for a big name to keep his luck going.

Does anyone know where I can find the video of D'antoni winning some sort of championship in Italy?

In this video, he takes his jersey off, pours champagne into the cup shaped trophy and then pours it on himself. (I'm not sure if I am remembering this correctly)

Kerr denies report of D'Antoni's departure
http://www.azcentral.com/sports/suns/articles/2008/04/30/20080430dantoni.html

SAN ANTONIO - Nothing but the playoff losses has intensified the talk about Suns coach Mike D'Antoni's job.

There has been no recent discord between him and the front office, other than the lack of a full vote of confidence from management.

A report on sportsillustrated.com posted late Tuesday night says Mike D'Antoni will not return as coach.

But Suns General Manager Steve Kerr denied that report early Wednesday.

"There's no truth to that," Kerr said. "I asked Mike when the story came out and he denied it. Mike's our coach and has done a great job for four years. We'll get together soon and talk about where this team can go from here."

With two years and $8.5 million left on his contract, D'Antoni is unlikely to be fired. If he returns, it could be with concessions to change. But there is also the possibility that he leaves of his own accord, especially with a perceived lack of support - and interest from New York and Chicago, both of which have vacancies. There is also the chance Toronto President Bryan Colangelo fired Sam Mitchell to hire the coach he brought to Phoenix from Italy.

An article in this week's Sports Illustrated will fan the flames. It paints a picture of a divide between the coaching staff and front office staff. It talks about D'Antoni resenting Suns General Manager Steve Kerr working out of San Diego and taking perceived shots at him in the press, and that Kerr thinks D'Antoni is too stubborn to accept Kerr's suggestions, whether it be in strategy or personnel use.

Sources confirmed an SI anecdote that Kerr and D'Antoni had an early November argument in which Kerr suggested that the Suns feature post-up plays for Amaré Stoudemire more often. That incited D'Antoni, who set off a shouting match that included him saying, "Don't tell me how to coach offense."

Since then, Kerr has expressed public support for D'Antoni, who has also been complimentary of Kerr, especially when Kerr changed his mind to be on board with trading for Shaquille O'Neal after initial reservations.

As D'Antoni came under fire the past week, Kerr would say only that evaluations would be made after the season while D'Antoni became obviously irritated with the ordeal.

A postseason meeting between D'Antoni and the front office will settle the direction the Suns front office and D'Antoni want to take.

thanks for ruining my morning. hopefully this is just talk until the details are worked out, like a buyout or compensation from another team.

Let me start off by saying I have said all along that Mike is not a great coach. I think Mike is a good coach. He is good enough to take a bunch of talented guys, turn them into winners and get them into the playoffs. There are plenty of coaches in this league that are horrible.

Having said that...it's not good enough. Isn't our ultimate goal to win a title? If so, it appears Mike can't and won't ever get over that hump. His stubbornness is his down fall. He thinks so highly of himself and his system that he thinks he can overlook the issues with defense, rebounding, utilizing a bench and developing young guys.

Mike reminds me of a talented NFL coach named Marty Schottenheimer. The guy was a great coach during the regular season but fell apart in the playoffs. He was constantly getting out coached in the post season. Sound familiar? Mike is the NBA equivalent.

I appreciate what Mike did for this team. Heck I appreciate what he did for the NBA. I actually thought the NBA was getting really boring until Mike came along. However, ultimately nothing matters to me more then the Suns winning the title.

So for that reason alone I am ready to say goodbye to Mike. I hope he leaves or we buy him out or something. If he comes back he won't get the benefit of doubt from me any longer. I just don't have confidence in him any longer. Next season will be tough if he is still here.

I'm listening to Jack McCallum on the radio right now - he's sticking by his story even tho he understands they want to do it on their own time frame.

Mike feels there is too much meddling from mgmgt infringing upon his coaching.

Thinks he's a hot coaching commodity now.

(basically re-hashing points from his article).

Wasn't too surprised by comments from Raja since Raja never liked the Shaq trade, but Nash defended the coach.

Basically, Mike is a non-confrontational guy and is not as demanding as mgmt would like him to be.

"Next season will be tough if he is still here."

Next season will be tough whether D'Antoni's here or not, and the season after that will be tougher. The Suns aimed at getting better this year and are now faced with an even bigger mess. If you think there was conflict, discontent and lack of cohesion before ........ "you ain't seen nothin' yet."

Still, some here will probably enjoy it in a way because if they're looking to blame, there's plenty of opportunity to identify somebody as the main problem. If DA's gone, that's two missions accomplished. So now--until at least 2010--the piranhas will switch their attention from one target to another and the feeding frenzy will continue. Not a pretty sight.

If D'Antoni must be made the scapegoat I hope the Suns demand something in return like a draft pick(s). I just hope Kerr does not use his usual philosophy and give the other team picks.

Actually the ones that should go is Sarver and Kerr in that order but that's not going to happen. I knew D'Antoni was gone when I read about Dan D'Antoni expressing his displeasure about how the coach was being criticized. Dan had to already know about it to be that vocal.

What? Trade D'Antoni for draft picks? Are you serious?

Of course. But when we said it, we were ignorant armchair quarterbacks who were only fantasizing about having a clue. Nothing we said was based on any understanding of the situation at all until it was -- purely by coincidence, you realize -- echoed by the team's GM.

At least, that's what some of the enforcers on this board will maintain.

You said it. And your no experience GM who has done squat in the NBA will now have a chance to show how dumping all those picks +KT+JR+marion+banks for shaq plus cash wasnt a mistake. It doesnt look too good considernig that KT could have easily been the difference in the series. But Im just waiting to see how all those "basketball genius armchair quarterbacks" really are brett farves with high BBall IQ's.

Yeah DA wants to leave this sinking ship, he has other options that actually can build a team within a few years. SavaKerr will accept his resignation as well, since this will free that egomaniac sarver from the last vestiges of the colangelos, except perhaps steve nash. The "lack of support in management statement" is a clear indicator the DA doesnt WANT to stay with savakerr questioning every move he makes. Im sure he would much rather work with a guy like BC who knows his job and his limitations.

Now phoenix fans can get back to their roots, just hoping to be in the playoffs, lowered expectations lead to fewer disappointments.
