Calvin Johnson runs a 4.33 in the 40
Calvin Johnson, preparing for the league's scouting combine in Indianapolis next week, was clocked at 4.33 in the 40. He also recorded an 11-foot standing broad jump and had a vertical leap of 43 inches.

While Johnson might not be the first player chosen, he is clearly separating himself as the top player in the 2007 NFL draft. Johnson is a rare talent. He is 6'-4", 234 pounds, and runs a 4.33 40 yard dash!

His combination of size, speed, hands, intelligence and work ethic are unheard of at the receiver position. Think Randy Moss talent with a Marvin Harrison work ethic. In fact Johnson is actually 25 pounds bigger then Moss and if the 4.33 - 40 is accurate, just as fast.

Thank God he won't last long enough for someone in our Division to get him.

We won't even have a shot at him if he really runs a 4.33.

While I think he can achieve all those times/measurements, I'm skeptical of this. I'll wait till the actuall combine to see if he really reaches those numbers. This could be just his agent or API (if he's training there) getting the Calvin Johnson PR campaign going.

All that being said, I agree that he's the #1 prospect in this years draft and he'll be a great WR in the NFL. Just look at what he did in college with possibly the worst passing QB in the country (Reggie Ball). The guys a physical freak and a good dude

I've been saying all year that Calvin Johnson is the best player in college football and I am 100% convinced that he will go down as the best player in this draft. He's the reason why I was rooting for the 49ers to win enough games this year to not be at the top of the draft. I hope the Raiders don't take him, I want them to continue their recent trend of sucking.

If the 4.33 - 40 is accurate and he can do it again at the combines then his stock will go out the roof ... but he still has to catch the ball and run good routes ..

DING DING DING DING DING DING we have a winner

I agree -- that being said -- if he puts up anything close to these numbers in Indy -- he either wont last till the Cards, or if by chance he does -- it may be a sellers market for the #5 spot.

He's a rare talent.

Unless his stock magically falls I could easily see him go #1.

I can see it now. The Raiders trade one of their problem child wide receivers to Miami for Daunte and draft CJ.

It could happen.

That 11 foot standing broad jump is the most impressive to me. That shows outstanding power in the legs and means he very likely has an extremely quick first step. Wow.

Then, when you watch him play, why can't he gain separation from slower players?

His freshman year he singlehandedly destroyed Syracuse in their bowl game. He can get seperation but it doesn't help much that he always has to come back to catch the ducks being lobbed towards him.

Come on Skorpp, you gotta give the kid some credit. He's an absolute freak of nature and is a legit top-5 pick. He had a HORRIBLE QB throwin to him for 4 years and he still managed to put up stats. He's also a great kid with a great work ethic. I'm still confused why you don't think he's a great WR prospect.

Maybe because he went for 7 catches, 100+ yds, and a TD vs ND this year. JK!

Absolute freak. The guy is the best player in this draft. Tampa is chompin at the bit to hope the other 3 teams draft for need, not talent.

Since when does reality enter into the picture. Don't you know that we are supposed to get all hot and bothered about some rumored 40 time and lust after that player? Stop raining on the parade!! ;)

If he goes to Tampa, he will still have a horrible QB throwing to him.
