Yea. He started the regular season with like 4 sacks in 3 games. :D

All true, but Green rightly put him on the bench by mid-season. Green told him to get bigger & stronger, otherwise there was no room for him on this team. Give Pace credit for working hard this offseason. We'll see if it has payed off. If it doesn't, Green will dispose of him. I personally think Pace will be a contributor.

And didnt even play the last 4 games. In very very limited playing time he had 4.5 sacks. Quite honestly he was a man among boys last night,. They couldnt contain him and held him on al,most every play. Dont know that it means much -he wont unseat Berry- buthe has produced the last seasons when he gets the chance.

Plus, he has consitently outplaYed Kenny King, and everyone on this board is all over King's jock!

Yeah, he got 4 sacks!?! Pace put up some good sack numbers considering he was a third down DE. I think his issue was not sacks, but run defense.

Pace did look much better last night. I thought he was lined up a couple of times on the side that Tyson Thompson (who I never heard of) had his long runs. I have no idea who had the contain would assume the DE.

Actually hes always been pretty solid against the run. His problem is he used to get wore down as the geame went on.

Ah yes...let the love for the late-game preseason heroes begin. :biglaugh:

Yet another round of love for the guy who has done nothing to prove he should get serious consideration. The guy has a final chance, IMO, to prove himself this season. If he doesn't, he's outta here.

I dont think anyone is saying Pace should unseat Berry, but if he continues to play like this he at least deserves some playing time consideration. It wasnt that he just beat Tucker all nght (who by the way the Cowboys are really high on), he also forced at least 3 holding penalites and was head-and-shoulders faster than any d-lineman or o-lineman out there. He was so fast off the snap that afew times I thought for sure they were gonna call offsides.

All I know is this, everyone around here is on King like he is the second coming of Warren Sapp or soemthing, but if cuts were held today, and a D-Lineman had to go, I would cut King before Pace!

What about all those runs over his side?

Pace, may have had good up field pressure but that 2nd string defense gave up way to many yards around left end (Pace's spot). Dallas's Thompson had a field day running left. If our 1st string defense takes on any injuries I think our run defense may suffer some.

Regarding Offense, Josh stinks. If Warner get's hurt, might as well flip us over because were cooked. Our offense will be like a fararri, but if you don't have someone that knows it like a book and knows how to drive it, what's the use?

Pace played well last night and actually dominated at times. Wasn't versus a first team offense but the guy can't control who he is lined up against.

I like the guy better than King and wouldn't be so sure he can't succeed in this league.

IMO Mr Pace certainly earned some time with the first team D in upcoming preseason games. As has been said here he looked at times like a man amongst boys. ANd if he continues to progress and I'm guessing he will, we could have one of the best DE rotations in the league.

Pace looks bigger, faster and stronger. He will be a great guy to come in and spell Berry from time to time.

Our defense is sick...

I agree. The difference in his explosiveness and strength is considerable vs last year where I might add he also played against 2nd & 3rd teamers in pre-season.

Exactly. Anybody think Berry can bring at 100% for 70 plays (or whatever) a game?

Nope, and thats why quality depth is crucial in the NFL. Berry needs to go as hard as he can for 7 or 8 plays, and then, we need to be able to bring in someone in his place who can make a play.

Pace made plays in limited duty last year. He looked good last night. I think he's a lock to make the roster.

He is not expected to be the starting DE like his first year when Mac tried his best to destroy the kid. His role is well defined to back up and hopefully come on certain third down situations to help the team. I believe he will have a better season than last year.

Wasn't Pace regarded as a Power DE coming out of college, but then slimmed down on Mac's request to transform him to a pure pass-rusher?

Not making any excuses for Pace, but he hasn't exactly had the best conditions to contribute, as different coaching regimes has wanted him in different roles. (slimmed down, bulked up and then slimmed down again)

Hey, I'm not toting King's jock strap, and I'm not saying he doesn't make the team. I'm just saying to lay off the man-love a little while, set down the kool aid, and keep our expectations where they belong...low to average. If he exceeds these expectations, fine. To expect otherwise is to be overly optimistic, IMO.
