yeah, ill give him time but I never understood the pick and he really needs to pan out or the thinking on first rounders will be in question for some time.

Great news.

2012 Cards use first round pick on a #4 WR
2011 Cards use first round pick on a punt returner
2010 Cards use first round pick on a 1 down NT
2009 Cards use first round pick on an injury prone RB who can't block or catch
2008 Cards use first round pick on a guy they didn't want any more after just 3 season
2007 Cards use first round pick on the worst pass blocking LT in the NFL
2006 Cards use first round pick on a QB some say is the biggest bust in ARizona Cardinal history.

They should just trade away all their first round picks for Philadelphia's backup QBs.

;) :D

I was singing this tune months ago. No one should be surprised: http://www.arizonasportsfans.com/vb...hael-floyd-180621.html?highlight=Floyd+expect

That said, we're in a good position with Floyd that we haven't been in recent memory. There are talented, experienced players ahead of Floyd, so his immediate contributions aren't required. Even more importantly, we don't have a good quarterback delivering him the ball, so a lack of production or immediate impact wouldn't be noticable right away, either.

I've been really excited about the consistency that my boy Early Doucet has shown in camp so far. Hopefully he can stay healthy and be a reliable third-down target so that Skelton or Kolb aren't immediately turning to Fitz.

Doucet for much of last year was leading the league in 3rd down receptions for 1st downs. I would say he seems to already fit the mold.

Floyds value is his physicality and YAC.

Given there is no contact in practice, both of those values are non-viewable.

Hes big, but hes not fast, his routes are just OK, his hands are just OK. Of course he'll look like crap next to Larry and speedsters like Early and Roberts.

yeah... i gotta say, unless you're taking a truly dynamic WR in the top 15 picks in the first round, it's a head scratcher to go that route when there are still really encouraging prospects at OLB (which we've been trying to fill for years) out there like i believe Ingram was. Bottom line... you can find a decent #2 WR in FA, but you can never find a potential stud OLB in FA (unless he was just an Arizona Cardinal :) ).

all that being said... I'm not worried about Floyd at this point. the overwhelming majority of rookie WRs make very little impact their first year in the league.

There were two Jet scouts at our game with Oakland, last night, and they need WR's, BIG TIME. But other than draft picks, I don't think they have anything we need, as their OL isn't doing well. Might be looking for WW pickups.

Coach Whiz had some nice things to say about Doucet. Said he's had a quiet but good camp.
