Here is an interesting short take on Anderson. What do you think? Heck of he beats em' bad he should start. When in Cleveland he had a good year with an okay team. The following year they were the worst and then it appears they lost faith in him and played 1q in 1q out all year. Here is what the artical link.

Sure.

We still don't know what we have in Leinart. We got a whole year to get through with him, and if the goes south, then Anderson will get a shot, I am sure of it.

No link, but no, Anderson can't beat out Matt. I think that Matt can lose the job, but I have a hard time seeing Anderson winning it.

Derek Anderson sucks.

If he can, we're in for a LONG season.

Agreed. Anderson is a boom or bust type QB. He will amaze you with a great play then throw an INT the next. He is a Brett Favre Gunslinger but without the 60+ comp %.

Can he? Answer: "Yes."

Will he? Answer: "Maybe.

Variables: (1) how well/poorly Matt plays, (2) how well/poorly Derek plays, (3) injuries.

All things being equal: Leinart gets the job.

Probabilities: 85% Leinart. 15% Anderson.

That's how I see it. I'd add that it is quite possible that both Leinart and Anderson play superbly, with both deserving the opportunity to start.

(Or not).

Not true.

After Warner was released (by Green Bay), Mariucci had told him that he knew Warner had enormous potential but was not ready to be an NFL quarterback yet.

Even in DA's best season he completed only 56.5% and still had 19 INT's to go with those 29 TD passes. Admittedly Cleveland sucked and didn't have a whole lot of talent around him the last 2 years trading away Winslow and having other problems.

But it's been pretty clear that Whiz places a high value on protecting the football, he made exceptions for Kurt because when hot he was SO hot, that you just lived with the fumbles and INT's because Kurt could sometimes overcome then.

Anderson has been a turnover machine, he's just a very erratic thrower. Matt had a higher completion % as a rookie than Anderson's ever had in a single season, and Matt's had accuracy issues himself.

It's going to come down to the obvious, who moves the club and who protects the ball and I'm suspecting that will be Matt.

The Great Unknown has to do with what's been going on out of the sight of the fans & pundits during the offseason. Each QB has his "challenges"; are those problems correctable and (more important) are they being corrected? And (most important) when we finally get to see these two dudes in action during preseason, what will we wind up with? (I maintain that, right now, "we don't know").

It's quite possible (even likely) that one QB will improve in critical aspects of his game more than the other will in his critical areas. That will make the decision pretty easy. But suppose both QB's fix everything that's broke: If both of them are playing at the very best level they can play at, which one's better? Which one can we best win with?

Damn I hope not...!!! It would be a shame if the Cardinals spent all of that money on Matt and he doesn't Preform. But really guys I feel that Matt will respond and be the QB of the Now and the FUTURE.

Isn't the adage that you can't teach a QB to be accurate?

College:
1TD/3INT 41.5%
25TD/13INT 47.0%
24TD/24INT 51.2%
29TD/17INT 54.2%

NFL:
5TD/8INT 56.4%
29TD/19INT 56.5%
9TD/8INT 51.2%
3TD/10INT 44.5%

Also keep in mind that he was outplayed by Brady Quinn last year and Quinn got fired. All of the numbers and Anderson getting beaten out by Quinn does not indicate to me that he will outplay/out duel Leinart in a QB competition.

Leinart has already been through a pretty intense camp battle vs. Warner and barely lost so I think he can handle one against Anderson.

Answer: NO!!

Long Answer: No possible way.

As one of our colleagues mentioned with the time, money and learning over the previous four years it would be a major surprise if matt did not turn out to be a fine quarterback by continuing his development.

Regardless of what Whiz may say to the press about open competition, Anderson was not brought in to compete with Leinart. Anderson was brought in just in case Matt gets injured, which he has a high propensity of doing. Whiz does not want to ruin Skelton, so Anderson is our best option in the event that Leinart gets hurt again. If we're forced to go to Anderson, I'm confident that Whiz will do a decent job of preparing him & work to his strengths.

Also you can not teach someone on how to be a "WINNER...!!!" Matt has always been a winner. Even by loosing out to Kurt he was a winner by playing behind Kurt and Learning what it really takes to be a winning QB in the NFL.
