Scouts Inc does not see Lewis as just a slot corner.

It makes me happy that we are picking athletes and not need-picking.

It would make me happy to pick an athlete that can actually play the number 2 CB and there were A LOT of those that we passed... and have passed for years.

And how did the "athlete" that we drafted last year to play CB turn out for us. Great teams don't just draft athletes. They draft guys who are athletes AND have shown they can play.

I think they got too cute dropping all the way down to #98, Tankersley would have been a great pick but he goes to MIA right before us. Not a fan of Douglas as he looks like a 1 year wonder. I like Kazee here but chances are ARZ goes WR or some other position, TE maybe.

I have had a feeling that they believe that with Bethel finally healed and Williams having more experience that they believe one of them will work out. I had hoped that feeling was wrong, but now I suppose we have to trust BA & Bettcher on this one.

Funny, and I liked Douglas better. But it comes down to who the FO likes.

#2 CB the last 4 years:

2013 Powers
2014 Cromartie
2015 Powers
2016 Cooper

Every year people complain that we don't have a #2 Corner, and every year we come up with a decent one. We drafted excellent players, great athletes who could make our Defense great. You can't fill every position on the team. Maybe one of these years, we won't have a serviceable #2, but it hasn't happened in the last 4.

I'm not a Brandon Williams fan, but he's only had one year. Maybe give him a chance. Bethel is iffy, too, but is at least he's healthy this year. Mitch mentions Bouka. And Revis, McCourty are available, who would be fine opposite PP. We have money to sign them. Now there is rumor that Scandrick could be available.

We don't have to solve this with a drafted rookie.

Yeah I've felt this way for some time, that Arians wasn't blowing smoke when he said they feel they are solid with Bethel and Williams opposite Peterson.

It's iffy to us, but they see them everyday. I think Bethel and Williams played much better at the end of the season.

Baker is going to be a stud. Just another DB Swiss Army knife to go with Mathieu and to a lesser extent, Branch.

This team is loaded with versatile defenders that play multiple roles well.

People REALLY need to stop saying Williams played better at the end of the year. His "performance" against Seattle singlehandedly let them back in from an 18 point deficit in 1.5 quarters. He literally looked like
the worst corner that's ever been on the Cardinals... which is saying something because he already took that mantle in game 1.

And Bethel was what Bethel always is... makes a play here or there, but generally is below average.

I'm not buying the Bethel being better now that his foot is healed. He may be better at special teams but when he played against GB as a CB in the playoff game he was getting torched left and right and was healthy.

Sorry... the above is complete revisionist history.

2013 - Powers was viewed as an upgrade in 2013 OVER William Gay. That D was NAILS all over the field and very few people were complainkbg about the #2 CB.

2014 - Everyone was SUPER jazzed about Cro and he played great for us and we had Powers in the slot. No one was complaining about Cro as he made the Pro-Bowl and Powers was a great slot CB.

2015 - PP, Powers and HB were the CBs and played well together. The secondary was the strength of the team until
powers and HB got hurt.

2016 - we went into the season with crap at CB and that's what we got.

And in 2017, it looks like
We've decided to do
The same. That's reality.

agreed.

nor am I buying "Bethel played better at the end of the year" nonsense because he had 1 pick 6... while up 38 points... late in the fourth quarter... against the freaking Rams... 3RD STRING QB.

The Cards weren't going to be drafting a starting CB in round 3+ anyway. If they wanted to draft a starting CB, they would have taken one at 13.

Brandon Williams is who I think starts this year. I can't understand why people are so quick to write him off.

The Cowboys are letting starting RCB Orlando Scandrick go. Steve Keim -- work your magic with Scandrick! We don't need more youth at RCB...we need a veteran.
