Cardinals have to spend a lot of cash this year per rules. There are degrees of that of course.

Multiple factors plays in here. Bidwill not being a billionaire and reluctance to spend big is definitely one of the them. And one that doesn’t get solved until Bidwill sells 10% stake to an investment firm that is allowed now.

On the other hand. Monti has a strategy. Like that strategy or not. But he is being consistent to that. Sweat at 18M is so much better than Williams at 26m. I have zero issues there. He uses free agency to find solid starters and the draft for stars.
But Monti now has to follow through with the rest of the strategy and plug the holes with solid starters.

He re-signed the key players IMO in beachum, Browning and Brown to have solid depth.

Sweat as a DE plugs one hole.

Now he needs to sign adequate starters at DT and LB.
Another G is also needed.

I will be pissed if we go into the draft with glaring holes forcing a specific pick (like LB Campbell).
That is what I hated with Keim.

Ok, my bad. I read an article the other day from "Business Insider" naming all the NFL billionaire owners (I wrongly thought that it was an ESPN article (it wasn't)). The article is entitled,

It did say the Bidwill family was worth 1.4 b.

Lots of people with big money on paper are afraid of losing too much if they spend money. Beyond the Cards I’m not aware Bidwill has any other revenue stream. That’s rare among owners.

Yes, they can. Building a winning team isn't about spending tons of cash, the Bidwills get enough of that. It's hiring the right people to draft, evaluate, coach and spend the right amount of money on free agents. Unfortunately, Mikey can't really hire the best because he is a clown owner that the cream of the crop wouldn't even consider. Same arguments that have been raging for many, many years.

Absent an owner without the Bidwill name or affiliation, same old, same old is ahead. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Reality. NFL teams do not have to win to make millions. NFL teams are not punished for losing. They get paid whether they make the playoffs or win 2 games.
Bidwill will only do the minimum of what it takes to be a real NFL franchise. His long term goal is to put as much on the bottom line as possible. To hell with winning.

Most playoff teams have many above average starters - how do you propose the Cards accomplish that goal with adding mostly JAG's in FA and mediocre drafts?
