Can we start a chant at arenas?

It's obvious the majority of the players do not like the new ball. Stern won't listen to the players, but he might listen to the fans. I think we should push for every person in every arena in the league to start "The New Ball Sucks!" chants after the tip-off of every game. If that doesn't get Stern to change back to the old ball, nothing will.

At the very least, I'm sure the players would appreciate it.

If you're a member of other basketball forums, take this message and post it there. If we get this message circulating around enough on the internet, I'm sure it has a decent shot at working.

If Stern won't listen to the players' complaints when the basketball is the one and only tool of their profession, why would he listen to the fans -- 98% of them have never touched the new ball and he knows it.

If the dissatisfaction with the new ball continues to grow over the next month, is there any possibility the players union might do something?

Well, there's nothing like a stadium full of fans screaming in unison "The new ball sucks" to light a fire under Stern's ass, especially if it's happening at every game until the change back to the old ball is made.

Well I guesss that category would include me because we go up for about 20 games a season. I don't know where dreamcast sits but I was at the home opener a week ago and the fans were wild, crazy, rowdy, loud -- great fun.

I'll admit I've never tried to get any chants going. The Gorilla and the big screen do a good job on that. But those prompts don't usually come when our guys are shooting FTs ........

Contrast that to Kobe who got MVP chants on his first free throws the other night...the crowd picking up where they left off (though the guy who should be getting those chants on the Lakers right now is Odom.)

Its a real letdown if you are used to rowdier sports games. I enjoy hockey and football games most. The Suns games are definately toned down. Its more of a family atmosphere. People go crazy if you stand up for more than a second or two. The Suns are incredible to watch, but the atmosphere is a turnoff in my eyes.

Agreed. I sit behind on the baseline, 19 rows up on the Suns side (same section that Santana sits). I absolutely love the Suns, but I am almost at the point that I loathe going to the games, because of the atmosphere.

It is true. He began cursing after basically telling someone to piss off when he was cheering. It was not like his reactions were unwarranted, and he was not drinking at all either.

Sorta went like this.

Fan A: Fan boos a bad call by ref
Fan B:Tells him to sit down
Fan A: Piss off
Fan B: Ignores

Fan A: Argues another call
Fan B: Again tells him to sit
Fan A: Tells him to F- off
Fan B: Gets Security
Fan A: escorted from building.

I posted about my experience when I went to one of the WCF games last year, it was miserable. Is in the lower bowl and it stunk. I mean it was the WESTERN CONFERENCE FINALS and these people were like corpses. I stood up and cheered every time the Suns did something good, and I kept hearing people say "sit down, calm down" etc. I couldnt take it after a while and turned around and said "this is the Western Conference Finals, get your butts up!" Which led to two frat boy thugs next to me threatening my mother who I was with. They said something along the lines of "if you dont shut up, we're going to beat you both up." So I told Arena Security and luckily they were a bit easier to deal with the rest of the game.

I wish the organization would create a special section in the lower bowl for fans who actually care. Maybe the first 5 rows right behind the visiting bench. Sell the tickets to people who promise to go ape the entire game, who dress up, who are there to scream and have a great time.

Of course they were the only four people that never stood up once and they call security on me because i was waiving my white towel around my head. The guy told me not to worry because those same ladies complain at every game.

i had the same experience in Game 6... but in the UPPER DECK. It was pathetic.

He got ejected for being abusive to Fan B. Fan A's proper reaction was to ignore Fan B, not start swearing at him. If Fan B wants to start a fight, get him thrown out. "F- off" is not an acceptable rejoinder, even if you're in the right.

Why even go to games if you sit on your hands? And especially the Suns who are a high scoring team?? If you can't stand up for those guys then what in the world are you doing there?

And I don't like the Suns at all, but I'd be on my feet all the time if I were a Suns fan.

No way in hell. If it were up to me, if the game was intense, I would stand the entire game. It wasn't me, but Fan A might as well be me.

No fan at a game is going to tell me how to cheer my team on, especially if I was not initially disrespectful. If you don't like it when I stand, stand yourself. The stadiums do have "stadium style" seating so that you could see, if you would just stand.

The bigger question is why would would "shell out a chunk of cash" for those good seats, and just sit there. There is a reason why they have motivators at games, ITS TO PUMP UP THE CROWD AND ADD EMOTION!!! I would enjoy the experience the game that much more, if the people that sat immediately around me, were as passionate for the game as I am.

The same thing is happening at Cardinals games, (although it is more rare)

I would rather be around passionate Cowboy and Laker fans, than docile Suns fans.
